[T139]Tell If Your Spouse Is Cheating
by Ed Opperman, Ed
Statistics show that as many as 50% of marriages have experienced infidelity. In reality, that number could be higher, because this number only accounts for those who have been caught, or admit it to a pollster. Trying to find out if your spouse is cheating can lead to major problems, and can tear apart even the strongest of relationships, but it is far better to make sure than it is to have that nagging doubt.

You may be wondering how to find out if your spouse is cheating on you. There are signs to look for. Do they always seem to stay late at work? Leave the house for no reason? Make excuses, deny, or try to excuse certain behaviors? Of course, these might not mean anything, but if you have that nagging suspicion it is worth pursuing. If they are innocent, it will put your mind at ease. If they are guilty, then gathering proof can help you come out ahead if you go through with a divorce.

One of the problems of trying to catch your spouse cheating is that most of the evidence you can gather on your own may not be worth much in the eyes of a judge. You have to get concrete proof.

Today's society is largely driven by computers. This is true in our personal lives as well. Unfortunately, this spills over into the area of marital infidelity. It is now easier than ever to cheat on a spouse. The connections to another partner can be made through chat rooms, dating site memberships, or websites. Without the right techniques, it's virtually impossible for a non-professional to catch a cheating spouse online by searching for the sites your spouse is using to cheat on you.

On your own it's tough to verify at which sites your spouse is registered. You can purchase something commonly called catch a cheating spouse software, but you need to be able to install it on every computer your spouse uses throughout the day.

The good news is that there is a better solution. You can hire someone to find out for you, and this is concrete evidence - it is proof. By simply providing your spouse's email address, a professional can find out every site your spouse is registered at. Why would a loyal spouse be registered at a dating site, swinger's site, or nasty pornographic sites? Who knows, maybe there are reasons, but in court none of those reasons look good for the cheating spouse.

Finally, if your life is impacted by a cheating spouse, please know that you can move on. How to catch a cheater isn't that simple without the right help. Ultimately, it's always better to know for sure (one way or the other) than it is to live with a nagging doubt.

Now that the internet is accessible to millions of people the risk of infidelity in chat rooms has increased also, bringing with it the danger of a real-life affair. These online affairs have increased the danger of marriage breakdown just like physical affairs. Cyber affairs often occur when someone gets addicted to chat rooms, but is it easy to find out if someone is a chat room cheater?

Many people can become addicted to online chat rooms where they can indulge in sexually explicit chat in real-time with total strangers. A climate of permissiveness pervades many of these chat rooms and instant messages sent privately between two people allow them to engage in erotic chats without the risk of being caught by their real-life partner. It is possible to use certain stealth software to discover what is in the private messages but that is for another article.

Private messages of the steamy variety are already pretty bad but another way for the cheating chatters to communicate is by...voice. Obviously, this will be more risky and difficult to conceal from someone listening but it all it needs is a bit of privacy so that no one can hear the conversation.

And That's Not All...

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse you find that it does. Due to the multimedia capabilities of modern computers it is now very easy to view someone privately on their webcam. This creates a whole new dimension for two chatters. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what this could be used for.

So what actually happens in these chat rooms?

As most people in a chat room are strangers to one another it is easy to say things without embarrassment. Inside chat rooms little cliques form and some of these contain couples who seem to have a lot in common with each other and they start to form an emotional attachment with each other. This emotional attachment can deepen and turn into a full-blown online love affair. This is really a type of adultery and it is not unknown for couples to meet and for it to become a real affair. Someone may believe that it is all harmless escapism and that they are doing nothing wrong but their spouse will feel a deep sense of betrayal knowing that their spouse has been discussing intimate details with a virtual stranger.

What causes someone to have a cyber affair?

Research has shown that it is used by some people as an escape mechanism to avoid the problems and realities of normal life. Anyone can pretend to be somebody that they are not on online.

For example:

A lonely and shy man can assume the persona of a hot lover and be sought after by elderly housewives who themselves are posing as young beauties. An ordinary housewife can assume the persona of a stunning beauty and have her pick of men who themselves are just as ordinary but who make out they are a hot lover. But, there would be a a few shocks if the hot lovers ever met the stunning beauties in the real world.

So, what's the real lesson here?

Here are a few pointers to help you decide if your partner is having a cyber affair.

a) Is your partner's main interest visiting chat rooms?

b) Does your partner stay up late on the computer while you are alone in bed?

c) Do they demand to be left alone while they are on the computer?

d) Do they act secretive if you enter the room while they are on the computer?

e) Do they get irritated when you question the amount of time they are spending on the computer?

f) Are they on the computer more than they are with you or the family?

g) Do you feel that they are neglecting the household?

If the answer to most of these questions is yes then your partner might be involved in a cyber-affair.
