As a home designer builders and homebuyers often ask me what is the best house plan for them. This is just such and open-ended question because homes are all unique like their homeowners are. It always depends on what stage of life you are in and what your buyer might be. This is always the right answer but not the most popular one. There are 3 controlling factors that control everything about you home. And all 3 factors must work together. 1. Budget 2. Locations 3. Lifestyle The first item to be considered is how much do you really have to spend on your home. You should always be under budget because you will always run over budget somehow. There are many things that will change your building budget that you will have no control over. Wood and concrete prices are always changing even if you get a bid today, next week you may find that prices have moved up 8% from your estimate. Now if you budget is maxed out where is this extra money going to come from? The second item to look at is the location. In real estate they tell you it’s all about location, location, location. The location of your home will have and impact on the exterior styling. Most places now have Architectural Review Boards in place to insure that you will build a home that fits the character and style of the other homes. The one thing you must know is the ARB is there to help protect your homes value. I will go into more about working with and ARB in a later blog posting. I have designed homes all across the Low Country and I believe that the ARB is one of the best things that a quality neighborhood can have. Last but not least Lifestyle is the factor that will drive the budget and location. The home for the empty nester is going to be very different from the family with two kids and working parents. Even the first time homebuyer is looking for something entirely different from the empty nester. Even within each sub niche you will find that each niche has many more sub niche. As and example I just did a home in Dunes West that was 12,498 sq ft under roof for a empty nest couple. They wanted the home as and investment and they do a lot of events for family and friends. As you see there is no single house plans that is right for everybody. We each have our own unique idea of what our dream home is all about.
However, it can be very risky letting a stranger into your home. Will you be able to trust them? Would they break your precious ornaments? What about your expensive jewelry, is it safe?
Below, we shall look at some of the most important aspects when you are on the search for a new house cleaning service.
1. It's the norm for house cleaners to be police screened/vetted and with references. Check up on this. Check up on their references - you never know they could be fake.
2. You need peace of mind that if they do accidentally break one of your expensive ornaments, that they are insured to cover the cost. Check that they are covered for accidental damage.
3. Your cleaner should have a friendly approach, but not too friendly. You often hear of cleaners spending most of their hourly rate drinking tea and talking. They should be friendly, but also professional and get on with their job.
4. The cheapest cleaner is not necessarily the best. It may be worth paying slightly higher rates to get the standard you deserve.
5. Why not start your research online with cleaning rates. Most cleaning services have a website. Request a price list for thier services. This way, you are still anonymous and therefore won't be 'lulled' into going with them.
6. Do you want weekly cleans? Or will fortnightly cleans suffice? Some people are happy with a total house-blitz every few months or so. Make sure your cleaner can tailor her cleans around your schedule.
7. Being charged a slightly higher rate for your initial clean is common.
8. A house-cleaning checklist is a way to ensure that you get the things done and cleaned what you want. You may want things done and cleaned differently from one week to another. So by having your cleaner working to your checklist makes sense to get all your tasks completed.
9. If you need heavy duty jobs done such as construction clean-up, garage cleaning or post-moving, then think about using a robust specialized cleaning service.
10. Who's supplying the cleaning products? Do you think your cleaner should bring his/her own? Are you willing to buy and provide the cleaning products ready for them to use?
There you have it, my top house cleaning tips helping you to find the best house cleaners in your area. You might have to take one or two on a trial in order to find a house cleaner that suits you.
One last word of caution, many cleaning services advertise the fact that they use unique and exceptional cleaning methods to clean any home quicker and more thoroughly.
I would't pay too much attention to these claims. At the end of the day all you want is someone who is trustworthy and professional. They will follow their own cleaning techniques to clean your home to your standards.
