[T248]The Best Baby Stroller
by Azlan, Azl
Strollers can really help a parent out, but be careful when buying one, because if you make the wrong choice, you could end up with a lot of trouble and inconvenience. So how can parents pick the right stroller? Well, strollers are available to match just about any lifestyle. To help you pick one, think about how you want to use the stroller first, and then look for a stroller model that best fits your life and your baby.

Of course, safety is very, very critical when it comes to your baby. Check strollers for stability before buying, and don't forget to see if the stroller will remain upright with a diaper bag hanging over the handles. Also go over the stroller harness. For babies who might be staying in the stroller for long periods of time, look for a five-point harness. For occasional mall trips, a three-point harness will be fine.

When you find a stroller that seems right, try to walk it yourself for a while to get the feel of it. Choose a stroller that makes corners smoothly, and make sure that your feet don't hit the wheels when walking. This would come in handy when you have to hurry or maneuver in crowded areas. Check the height of the handles to be sure they are comfortable for you. Taller parents should look for strollers with adjustable handle heights. If you want more comfort, look for foam-covered handles.

Also think about the other features you may need from a stroller. Would you want a basket underneath it to carry the diaper bag? Or perhaps you'd like a stroller with organization trays, toy bars, snack and drink holders, rain hoods and more. You can get these separately, so fret not if you cannot find any beverage holder in your favorite stroller. Another important thing to consider is how easily you can fold and store it away when not in use.

There are around four common types of strollers available in the market. There are the lightweight strollers, just under 20 pounds but having many of the same features as larger strollers, such as reclining seats, storage baskets and sun shades. These would be excellent for taking your baby on short trips. Standard strollers often feature roomier seats, larger wheels, more storage space and extras like built-in music systems. Standard strollers perform well in most conditions, and many parents love these versatile wonders.

If you want to take your baby out while jogging, there are also jogging strollers available. Some parent buy one as a backup for their everyday stroller. Featuring large, durable tires, sleek frames, hand-grip brakes and all-terrain suspension systems, jogging strollers perform well on almost any surface. They are not recommended for babies under 6 months old, though. Travel systems offer convenience for busy new parents. A travel system begins with a standard stroller, but includes an infant car seat that snaps onto the stroller. When the infant car seat is outgrown by the baby, you can use the travel system as a standard stroller.

Which of you are struggling to find the best baby stroller to suit yours and your family's needs? Many people are at this very moment, judging by just how many people use the various search engines to look for the best deals on strollers on the web. Is it possible you're also expecting your first (or another!) baby in the near future and need to finish up shopping? Of course, if you're like everyone, hearing descriptions about single, twin, jogging, umbrella, etc. types probably makes your head spin. Everything is covered.

Safety should be your biggest concern when looking for a new stroller, bar none. Price should be a consideration, but only after you're quite sure that the baby stroller you've selected provides a safe environment for your baby. Your baby deserves the best, remember that! Many parents try to buy expensive strollers with lots of gadgets and features that aren't necessary, so remember not to try to use your stroller as a status symbol; look for safety and comfort, then worry about the price. The stroller is for your baby, not you, so choose accordingly. Let's discuss some of the safety and convenience features that your stroller should have before you should consider it for your baby:

A five point safety harness is a must for airline pilots and race car drivers for good reasons, so make sure that your baby's stroller has one of these as well. These harnesses have straps that pass between the legs, around the hips, and over the shoulders. It should be a must for any stroller that will hold a toddler or a baby that is old enough to sit up in his or her stroller.

You should also make sure that the locking mechanisms that are included on your baby's stroller are made of metal and are made out of good quality materials. I cannot stress this enough; a poor locking design can cause the stroller to collapse and injure your child. You don't want that, and neither do I!

Another safety feature your stroller should have is a simple design characteristic called "balance." You want to ensure that when your baby is in his or her stroller, the stroller doesn't feel too top heavy. If it is sufficiently top heavy, the stroller may topple over accidentally and injure your baby.

If you're using your stroller for a newborn, you need to make sure that it has a fully reclining seat so that your baby's neck is fully supported. Remember that infants do not have strong neck muscles, so make sure that he or she is not allowed to sit up until he or she is strong enough to do so. Don't force it with a poorly designed stroller.

I certainly hope that this has given you some insight on some safety features to consider when purchasing your baby stroller.
