[T443]The Fast Food Diet
by Janelle Elizabeth, Jan
After 30 days of eating huge servings at the same fast food, Spurlock exhibited signs of liver damage, causing alarm to his fiancée, vegan chef and health counselor Alex Jamieson.

To help reverse the effects of the experiment, Jamieson placed Spurlock on a detoxification diet that effectively cleaned his colon and brought him back to good health. Thus, much attention has not only been placed on the ill effects of the Standard American Diet (also known as "S.A.D.") consisting of high fat, high sodium and high sugar food but also on the importance of regular inner cleansing.

Because the fast food craze extends beyond the US, the Standard American Diet is not just confined to that country. The S.A.D. is unhealthy mainly because it lacks fiber and healthy nutrients while it is high in sugar, caffeine, salt, fat, alcohol, additives and chemicals.

Whether taken regularly in small amounts or in a huge sitting, these substances can cause digestive problems. They are not easily digested and usually remain in the colon for years unless it is cleaned out with the help of inner cleansing ingredients.

The toxic build-up contributes further to the difficulty of the colon to eliminate waste leading to a vicious cycle of accumulation and non elimination. Typically, fiber from plant sources and plenty of water taken daily can do the job for your colon.

If you have been on a Standard American Diet for a long time, you may have to undergo colon cleaning for weeks before experiencing positive results. But natural inner cleansing only occurs if you have the purest diet.

Instead of consuming fried food and sugary drinks, you need to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and to drink more water.

Inner cleansing is not just for those who eat fast food everyday. Eating fried and unhealthy foods can make you an ideal condidate for detoxification.

In her book entitled, "The Great American Detox Diet: Feel Better, Look Better, and Lose Weight by Cleaning Up Your Diet," Alex Jamieson takes note of a British medical journal that reported how eating fast food for as little as twice a week can increase your risk of developing diabetes.

But inner cleansing isn't just for fast food consumers.

Reducing salt, alcohol and caffeine for a few days before your period should help with the bloating and mood swings. Some women have been helped by limiting sugar during this week as well. Be sure to get plenty of vitamin B-6, which can be found in green leafy vegetables, nuts, fish, poultry and potatoes. Vitamin E has also been found to have a positive effect on premenstrual symptoms.

Research has shown that the consumption of fat increases estrogen levels, so reducing the amount of fat that you consume will help normalize estrogen levels and ease premenstrual syndrome. Increasing your intake of whole grains and fibers will help your body to eliminate the excess estrogen in your system. Combine the two and you have a powerful weapon against cramps and bloating.

Calcium has also shown significant results when used to treat premenstrual symptoms. Taken with manganese and vitamin D, calcium aided in concentration, reduced cramping, bloating and mood swings. You can get plenty of dietary calcium in green leafy vegetables and legumes.

Evening primrose oil has also been used to treat premenstrual syndrome. It is rich in omega 6 fatty acids that seem to act as an anti-inflammatory in the body, helping relieve cramps. These fatty acids are found in salmon, mackerel and tuna as well as safflower, sunflower and grapeseed oil.

Before turning to prescription or over-the-counter medications for premenstrual syndrome, try making some dietary changes. You may get to feel better quickly, without resorting to popping pills!
