Everybody wants their wedding day to be an event which is remembered and cherished for many, many years. Well, having your wedding in the great outdoors may just be the way to add distinctive memories to your special occasion.
A wonderful ceremony outside among nature is a dream for many couples, and there are is no shortage of locations to consider, mountain resorts, seaside cottages, parks, the beach, or even your own or a friends backyard.

Getting married in the arms of Mother Nature, surrounded by the beautiful scenery and your friends and family, makes for an unforgettable way to start your new life with the one you love.

1. You get to celebrate one of the biggest days of your life surrounded by beautiful scenery. Traditional views or wild country! You get to enjoy being outside in the sunshine, sharing the day with the people who love you.
2. You will probably feel more relaxed on your wedding day, because natural surroundings often bring an air of casual elegance. It also helps to provide a feel of comfort to friends and family, and the open and free environment that surrounds an outdoor wedding will enable you to feel more at ease with your guests.

3. You can create fabulous memories as you view photographs of you and the one you love against the backdrop of mountains or the sea. Even a backyard lends itself to beauty especially if the landscaping has been arranged to suit your needs!

4. You can be original. Some couples choose an outdoor wedding because their special day means so much to them. They want to make it different from anything they have yet attended and so they pull out all the stops and have a truly one of a kind wedding. A forest glade or beach can make for a very lavish wedding and a sunset backdrop is a decoration that cannot be purchased in any store.

5. You have more options when choosing a landscape. You many only have a few churches or community centers to choose from in your area when you decide on a traditional indoor wedding, but an outdoor wedding has an almost unlimited amount of venues to choose from. Since you can use a tent if you wish, or simple make use of the open air, many new ideas and options will be available to you thereby making your wedding a unique reflection of the two of you.

6. How many weddings have you attended that have made you feel like a stranger fulfilling a social obligation? Involving family and friends in an outdoor wedding can relieve this feeling. An outdoor wedding can be a small affair in a backyard or in a field. This gives you the option of using a family members home or a favorite gathering place of close relations. This gives you the opportunity to get your family members involved in the joining of the newest member. It also gives a more intimate and welcoming feel to your wedding.
7. If casual is what you want, outdoor is an easy choice. Picture children running along the waves of the beaches chasing seagulls instead of being held properly in mommas lap. An evening wedding on a beautiful lawn as people mingle and chat can be as memorable as a huge formal wedding.

8. You can make your guests feel as if they are part of a vacation. Because you will be able to have your wedding in a park or historical area your out of town guests will get a chance to gaze at the natural wonders around them. Your guests will feel more as if they have travelled to do some sight seeing as well as being able to share in your wedding. An added bonus.

Also, when the guest is able to be in beautiful surroundings in a comfortable atmosphere they will be more at ease and able to enjoy meeting the newest addition to the family.

9. Young couples and old can enjoy becoming more involved. Many families can relax in the outside sunshine and feel the wind blowing around them as they share in your union. An outdoor wedding will give you the opportunity to get your loved ones involved in your ceremony. From allowing children off laps when tired to being more relaxed because everyone mingled around a lovely area until the proceedings start. Every one will be able to lend a hand getting the elderly seated or caring for a fussy child.

10. You can have a one of a kind wedding that your family and friends will remember for many, many years. Because your wedding will not be like everyone elses or the kind you and your guests have been to over and over again. Your wedding will be remembered and spoken of fondly for years to come.

In its simplest form, a GPS receiver calculates your exact location based on range signals it receives from various satellites in the space. But when you are out in the wilderness, knowing your current position alone is not adequate, what is just as important is to know how to get where you have to be. Mostly, simple GPS receivers, apart from measuring the position, would also measure additional information like speed and time. Depending on how sophisticated a GPS unit is, you can get various other details such as bearing and distance to your destination, an accurate compass direction, height above sea level as well as almanac information such as sunrise & sunset timings.

Of numerous details that a GPS receiver is capable of providing, what you actually need to know is to be handy with your unit. Once you know how to use it, you can make an effective and intelligent use of your GPS unit. It is of key importance to know how to store the coordinates into your GPS receiver, which has a two-fold benefit:

- First, by storing the coordinates of your current location you can always find your way back to where you started from.

- Second, you can store the coordinates of your destination and the GPS unit would continuously provide you with a bearing and distance of your destination as you move along the direction of the bearing. Most GPS units label this feature as "Go to".

The current location in most receivers can be stored by simple depression of a single key, which is usually labeled as ‘Mark'. A second method of storing the coordinates of a position is by manually entering the latitude and longitude of a location as a waypoint. Once the waypoints are entered, a route can be created by using two or more waypoints. A GPS receiver would then calculate the bearing and distance of the second waypoint from the first in a route. Following the bearing, by an inbuilt compass in GPS unit or an external magnetic compass, would then lead the user to the destination.

As you go along a route, guided by your GPS receiver, it is a wise idea to store your location coordinates at regular intervals especially while you are in the wilderness. This would be useful in case you need to trace back your track exactly. It is much easier to use the "Go to" feature, then following your breadcrumb trail.

So before you head out for your next excursion, just know:

- The coordinates of the destination
- How to enter a waypoint
- How to follow a bearing and/or use the "Go to" feature

Now go learn these basic steps of GPS navigation and then hit that trail and start exploring! Just don't forget to bring along extra batteries!
