A lot of planning is required for arranging a dance party. You have to find the just right venue, you have to get the perfect place, you need to invite the right guests and do it at the right moment. If you don't have the right dance music, however, the whole thing is a waste of time. And, nobody will be dancing.
There are a lot of different sorts of dance music, so it can be difficult to choose. Everyone likes old school, but old-school means different things to different persons. Generally, people appreciate the music that they heard when they grew up. For my age group, this means 80s music. Coming from Detroit, Motown is also very popular, but it doesn't hold sway over the entire country.

As a matter of fact, techno dancemusic is frequently one of the safest bets. The great thing about dancing to techno is that it is so easy to trance out. The beating bass beats, the persistent beat, the synthetic sounds and the samples all contribute to a psychedelic vibration that is hard to deny. I have looked at the most shy wallflowers lured out on the dance floor by the beat of jungle, trance, or house music.

Of course, a lot of my dance DJ friends use a different approach. For those DJs, dancemusic is about associating the old and the new. This was often the way that people thought about offering dance mix music, no matter if it is in remixes or mash-ups. Basically, they try to pay attention to what the youth is listening to and what the last age group liked at the same time. If it rings on a cell phone, the chances are it will find a good home in your mix, but it doesn't indicate that you should use only what's new. After all, some of the older hits have succeded the test of time for a good reason, and dancers will always be pleased to listen to them again.

The biggest thing in dance music at the present time is Hip Hop. If you leave that out of the mix, there is no way you will get the crowd shaking. This doesn't signify that you must keep it new, however. The crowd will often get a larger kick out of old-school, and you can score big points with some tastefully selected Grandmaster Flash numbers. This can help maintain a more positive, upbeat rhythm to the party as well!
