[B16]Baby Footprints And Handprints
by Sal Farzin, Sal
Making invitations out of your own hands and artistic abilities is quite a challenge. But this is the very reason why it becomes a lot more special. Invitations uniquely made from each other means hard work. But it would give you greater rewards in the end because every detail you painstakingly consider becomes a lasting memory.

When making invitations for your baby, add a touch of color in each of the invite cards you are making as well. Try to put the baby footprint right on the cover so the recipients would have a good idea as to what type of party is going to be held.

Here are some of the materials you are going to need:

Decorative paper
Cardboard
Ribbons, glitters, or colored sand
Your baby's footprint
Glue

To make a baby footprints invite, you can use your computer to help you out with the text. You can simply type all the important information about the party through some popular desktop publishing software. If you don't have that, a simple word processing program would do. Make sure to put everything there, like the name of your baby, where the party's going to be held, the date it will be held, and your contact information for confirmation purposes.

Once the inside of the baby footprint shower invitation is taken care of, you now have a lot of designing to do on the front side of the invite card. Choose a cardboard that perfectly complements your baby's gender. Popular choice is blue for boy and pink for girl - that is if you already know the sex of the baby you're going to deliver.

Then you're going to put some footprints on the card. Make several patterns of small footprints on a decorative paper. Cut it out and glue it over the cardboard. Put some more decorations using of ribbons, glitters, or colored sand. Let your imagination soar. When done right, the baby inside you will surely have a very special shower that both of you would never forget. The more baby footprints you make, the more people will come and share this happy moment of your life.

Small footprints are the lasting symbol of a newborn. And it is only right that you use it as the primary design of your invitation. Besides, your recipients would know right away what the party is all about the moment they see the small foot right outside the envelope. Well, you can always get pre-made invites from the store and just mail it to everyone you know. But that's not going to be as special as the one you made yourself. Start your quest of being a doting mother with the very first invitation you make for your baby.

If you're still thinking as to how you'll go about the design of your baby footprints, here are good suggestions:

1. Use your computer and print out little footprints on colorful paper.
The decorative paper where you'll print the foot on will be your base. You can use it to cover the cardboard that would serve as the invitation itself. There are different types of paper to choose from. You can use printer-friendly transparent paper, neon papers, and even shiny gift wrappers. Just make sure that the paper you'll print on is thick enough not to ruin your printer.

2. Make hand-drawn invitations.
If you know that you have talent when it comes to free-hand drawing, why not make a baby shower invite involving your artistic drawing skills? You can simply draw a big baby footprint on the cover of the card and maybe add a few small details inside like a stork carrying a newborn baby with its beak or a smiling baby with a feeding bottle. With your exceptional drawing abilities, making hand-drawn invitations becomes a very simple task.

3. Make yourself busy with paper cut-outs.
You can make an attractive invitation by simply cutting out patterns of baby footprints on colorful papers. Just get a master pattern from baby magazines or old books. Cut your selected pattern then paste it on a thick cardboard. Then cut out the footprint shape from the thick cardboard. That would serve as your master pattern. Trace it over your choice of colorful papers. Make several of them, preferably in different sizes. Paste them all over the cover of the invite. You can also put some text outside for added effect. This is the simplest baby footprints suggestion yet. Everybody can do it, regardless of one's level of creativity.
