[M616]Money Out The Window
by Danny Warner, Dan
Even if you are new to the internet and internet marketing you have surely heard or read about the blogging craze that is happening on the internet. People blog for many reasons ranging from personal journal entries, political impetus, information aggregation, customer research and last but not least for money. Many people today are making a healthy income by using blogging as a means to develop income. If you are new to making money online or even if you are an experienced internet marketer there exists at this time an amazing window of opportunity for people to make money using blogs.

Let's start by explaining why blogs are the latest craze in the internet world. In the not to distant past the only way someone could have ?real estate? on the World Wide Web was to own a website. In order to create a website one either needed to learn how to use programs such as Dream Weaver to create a website or hire someone else to build it for you. Either way you would have to spend time and money to create a space on the web. Google and some other companies changed all of this when they made programs such as Blogger.com, making it easy for anyone to own a piece of ?real estate? on the web. Even my off line father could get online and go to Blogger.com and create a blog for our family. If my father can create a blog, anyone can go onto the web and now create a space where they can generate revenue from the internet.

Not only are blogs easy to set up and start but they are also loved by search engines due to their dynamic nature. Search engines understand that blogs are constantly being updated with new and pertinent information. They consider this to be time sensitive information so they visit and index a blog each time there is a new post. This makes it much easier for a blog to get listed in the search results which means more traffic for your blog.

If you aren't using blogs to create money for you online, now is the time to act. Below I will explain just a couple of ways people are making money with blogs.

Sell Advertisements on your Blog: This is probably the most common way to generate income from your blog. After you create a blog and post to it regularly your blog will start climbing up the search engine ranking bringing you traffic. If you place advertisements on your blog you will be able to capitalize on the advertisements. You can advertise using programs such as Googles Adsense. Google Adsense works especially well for niche blogs.

One way that you can pick a profitable subject to blog about is by doing some keyword research. First make a list of topics that you are interested in blogging about. With your list go to Overture's BidTool and see what people are paying for ads based around your keyword. Pick your blog topic by finding the keyword with the highest bid amount. This will give you an idea of how much money you can make from your Adsense campaign on your blog.

Help Others Sell Products: Affiliate programs allow you to become the middle man between a product and the customer. Look at affiliate directories such as Commision Junction and Clickbank to find products related to your blog that you can sell directly on your blog. Most affiliates pay a generous commission every time you sell one of their products. It's very easy to refer people to an affiliate product on your blog and if you present it correctly you will be surprised at how many products you will sale.

Above I've listed only two ways you can start generating money from your blog but there are many other ways to use blogs to generate income and page ranking. The time to look into blogging is now. There is an open window of opportunity for the non-experienced and experienced internet marketer to make money using blogs.

Everyone wants to save money, thus the popularity of retail stores like Wal Mart, Price Club and Home Depot. Their prices are pretty good but sometimes their selections aren't. And, try to get the help you need. Most small brick and mortar retailers offer better service but have to charge more due to simple economies of scale. But internet retailers can also offer lower prices due to much lower overhead and special price agreements with manufacturers and vendors as well as a greater selection and expert assistance. This is true within the window treatments, blinds and shades segment but seems to be less well known as other consumer product types. If you are willing to use the internet to source these needs you can get the help you need, the selection you want and save money.

To be fair, I'll enumerate the primary downsides to purchasing window blinds and shades online:

First, you have to know how to measure your windows. Just about anyone can do this, so it's a minor obstacle.

Second, once you receive your blinds, you will need to install them. This can be a little daunting. I have found that installing blinds and shades is easier then one would assume but it is work. But, the truth is, no matter where you purchase window blinds this would be an issue and either you do it yourself and save money or pay someone to install them. Most online retailers offer a service whereby they will put you in touch with a local installer but, of course, it isn't free. Reaping the full benefits of purchasing blinds online will require a little sweat equity.

Additionally, you will need to know if you want the blinds to fit within the window sill (inside mount) or on the outside (outside mount). You will also need to know what you want. That can be harder than it seems. I, for one, am not an interior decorator and there are so many window treatment options these days. It can be overwhelming. You need to narrow down your choices into basic groups: blinds, shades or shutters. From there you will need to decide slat or louver size, materials (wood, aluminum, faux wood, etc.) and then colors or stains. This is where it is nice to get expert assistance; someone who can walk you through the selections and highlight the benefits and liabilities of the various products.

Last but not least, due to the fact that blinds purchased online are a custom order they cannot be returned unless they are defective in some way. This is true for any custom order whether or not you buy from a traditional retailer or an online retailer. So just make sure you like the color and make sure you get the measurements correct.

I have already eluded to the positives attributes of purchasing window blinds online, namely, a greater selection, expert assistance and lower prices. An additional benefit is that you will often get your order more quickly then if you buy from a brick and mortar establishment. The cost savings between a traditional retailer like Home Depot and an online retailer may only be 10%. But, with the other assets included (service & selection) and shorter wait times, the decision is an easy one.

If you really want to amp-up the cost savings consider purchasing an online retailer's signature line of blinds, shades or shutters. They are made by the same major manufacturers just without the label. They are made from the same materials and have the same warranties.
