[M566]Mobile Phones Health Risk
by Paul Phillips, Pau
What am I talking about? -I'm talking about mobile phone earpieces. I saw one wearing one of these mobile earpieces accosted by another, "Excuse me sir!" He alerted, pointing to the earpiece, "are you aware that you are paying your phone company good money to give you the chance of a tumour?" The guy wearing the earpiece shrugged nonchalantly and made his merry way...

Weather the person with the earpiece got the message or not, I couldn't tell, but the polite warning he had received was well justified. 'There isn't a month that goes by where I don't see some study documenting the ill effects of mobile phone overuse.

For example, there was a Swedish study showing that people who use mobile phones for more than 2 hours a day had a 250-1 greater chance of having a tumour cancer, the side they use to place the mobile phone to their head. The who rarely use cell phones were used to compare this.

This study was supported by Dr. Seigal Sadetzki findings. Her study at Tel-Aviv University can be found by putting her name in the Google search engine with the title: "Cell Phone Cancer Link Found By Tel-Aviv University Scientist" -Don't just take my word for it, do your own digging and I will bet you will find the same results and come to the same conclusions as me and the above researchers.

Whether it is cell phones or being in close-proximity with other appliances, it is well worth checking out the precautionary measures available to protect yourself against any form of electromagnetic pollution. Please remember that our bodies are electromagnetic systems and any upset to this caused by other electromagnetics such as the frequent use of cell phones, microwave ovens, electrical cables, living near energy grid pylons, and x-rays... may lead to serious illness or even death.

-Don't be a human 'Lab-rat' taking part in some deadly experiment.

There are many good and well-written documents or books available on the net where you can educate yourself more on the dangers and what precautionary measures to take.

-Children are more susceptible to electromagnetic pollution because they have a more vulnerable nervous system, because it is still in development.

Mobile phones are gaining wide popularity as one of the most extensively used communication gadgets. From youngsters to the old, cutie college goer to the arrogant boss, everyone is becoming habituated with mobile phones. Also, the multitasking new generation mobile phones with innovative design and superior technological features are becoming more a status symbol than just a communication device.

Forget about those busy businessmen for whom mobile phone usage is inevitable. Children are also quite fond of mobile phones. Infact many of them are addicted to the use of phones. Studies reveal that in the UK alone the number of mobiles has doubled to 50 millions since 2000, and among the users the number of children aged between five and nine has increased fivefold.

But is it justified for children of five to nine years to use mobile phones? How good is it for their health? As per researchers, frequent mobile phone usage can affect the health of the children. Even though there isn't much information about mobile phones causing damage to health, just because there are millions of mobile phone users, the health risk involved with mobile phone usage cannot be nullified. Whatever may be the level of health risks it would surely have more effects on children than the adults.

As researched by Professor Sir William Stewart, the chairman of the National Radiological Protection Board, UK, it is found that children using mobile phones are more prone to cognitive disabilities, cancer and non-malignant tumours in the brain and ears. His ten year study in Sweden suggests that frequent mobile phone users are more likely to get tumours in the ear and brain. And a Dutch study reveals that heavy mobile phone usage brings changes in cognitive function. Another German research report has suggested that heavy mobile phone usage can enhance cancer around base stations. Also a project supported by the European Union had shown evidence of cell damage due to extensive mobile phone usage.

Now, the question is not about whether mobile phone usage affect health or not, but if at all any hazard is involved in mobile phone usage than the children are more at risk. So, it is up to the elders to draw conclusions about the risks and benefits involved in mobile phone usage by children.
