Best known to television audiences as Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill, Sophia Bush will soon grace the big screen via the upcoming independent film, The Narrows. The movie, which also stars CSI: NY's Eddie Cahill and Law & Order: Criminal Intent's Vincent D'Onofrio, is based on the novel, Heart by the Old Country written by Tim McLoughlin.
The Narrows chronicles the personal struggles of 19-year old Mike Manadoro (played by Kevin Zegers) from Brooklyn. His photography work lands him a partial scholarship to NYU, offering him the chance to get out of his Bay Ridge neighborhood and break into the sophisticated world just beyond the East River. Needing to make up the other half of his school tuition, he turns to a delivery job for the local mob boss. Further complications arise when he finds himself drawn to a an intellectual young woman whom he meets at the university. Mike finds himself fighting to resolve his growing attraction to this stranger, with his long-standing relationship back home.
Directed by Francoise Velle and co-written by Tatiana Blackinton and original book author, Tim McLoughlin, The Narrows is scheduled for release in 2008 and had commenced filming in several locations in New York last April. One Tree Hill's Bush essays the role of the young NYU intellectual, Kathy Popovich, alongside Vincent D'Onofrio who portrays Vincent Manadoro, Eddie Cahill as Nicky Shades and Monica Keena who plays Mike Manadoro's girlfriend, Gina.
Before landing her role in The Narrows, Sophia Bush had previously appeared in films like Van Wilder starring Ryan Reynolds, Learning Curves with Meat Loaf, John Tucker Must Die with Desperate Housewives? Jesse Metcalfe and The Hitcher starring Sean Bean. On the small screen, she returns with the rest of the One Tree Hill cast for their fifth season which airs January next year.
