For example, you could be an avid stamp collector, compiling rare and unique stamps from all over the world. Or maybe you enjoy fishing, and you've visited some of the most unique fishing sites in the world and learnt some useful fishing tricks along the way. Perhaps you even partake in the joy of painting, quietly creating your art masterpieces in your basement every weekend.
Whatever your choice of hobby may be, you can make it a lot more than just a fun pastime by expanding your interest online, that is, by getting a domain name (that could be your own name) and setting up a Blog dedicated to your hobby, on that domain.
Of course, it will still be as fun and enjoyable as it always is - that will never change. But the opportunity for you to make money from your hobby by simply sharing your joys online will surely be a welcome change. Here are three extremely easy ways you can do just that:
1. Sell Your Own Products If your hobby is something that involves a physical product, then one way you can make money is by selling these items.
Say, for example, you have a vast collection of stamps that you've collected over the years. Even though you may not want to sell ALL of them, you could perhaps sell SOME of them, ones that you have more than one copy of or those you're willing to part with.
There are millions of similar minded hobbyists such as yourself online (whatever your interest may be), and once your Blog becomes somewhat popular, you'll find that there is indeed a big market of prospective customers for almost any type of product.
2. Sell Similar or Related Products As An Affiliate Of course, not all hobbies have products that can be viably sold on the Internet. But if you include products that are related to your hobby, then suddenly the market becomes a whole lot larger.
Say, for example, your hobby is deep water diving. You don't personally create any products with your hobby, but there are a lot of products that are RELATED to your hobby, such as body suits, flippers, diving coach programs, diving vacations and the such.
You don't need to start a company, of course, to sell these products, but you can become an Affiliate for other websites and individuals who provide these products and services and receive commission in exchange for any customers that you introduce to them.
Therefore, if a visitor to your Blog reads about your underwater exploits and is inspired to try out diving for himself and clicks on your Affiliate link to buy a diving training package that you're recommending, you'll be earning a commission for that sale. It really is that simple.
3. Sell Your Knowledge and Experience After so many years of being involved with your hobby or interest, you have no doubt picked up a lot of skills along the way as well as gained a lot of information and experience in the matter. So why not put it to good use?
Put some of this knowledge into writing and you can sell them as e-books on your Blog. Ebooks can be easy to write if you know the proper techniques of writing, and you can include a good number of pictures as well.
Or if the idea of ebooks doesn't appeal to you, you can provide online training (for example, in fly fishing) to visitors interested in picking up your hobby and learning more about it. You can also send regular information to your clients via e-mail in exchange for a monthly fee, too.
The above are just some BASIC ideas on how you can make money with a Blog at your own domain that is your name, and they barely scrape the tip of the iceberg. Once you start your Blog, you'll find that there are a HUGE number of ways you can make money with your hobby.
So why wait any longer? Start now and turn your hobby into something that actually makes money - instead of one that just spends it!
If you are going to have any chance of success, you must take these points into serious consideration, or you may be doomed from the very beginning.
My name is Damian Benko and I am a successful interpreneur (internet entrepreneur) working with the Passport To Wealth business. I have been involved in online businesses for almost 2 years and have had 3 other businesses off line as well.
Many people ask me, because of my success, how I did it, or what my secret is. Well, there really is no secret. There are however, several things to avoid, too assure a greater chance of success with any given program.
The program that I'm involved with is a software based business that provides a tremendous amount of products for the member as well as educational resources. The reason that I chose Passport To Wealth is because, after my due diligence, I found it to be the most solid amongst many of the others out there.
Now, I'm not saying that Passport To Wealth is far better than any other program out there. I'm just saying that the concept, the compensation and the ownership, Darren Gaudry, appealed to me the best.
That is the first key to success with any program that you choose. You must believe in the company and represent it because of your strong feelings towards it. If you chose a company, just because it's hot or the "latest fad", you could very well be destined for failure before you even start.
You need to feel emotionally strong about why you're choosing to be a part of that business. How can you expect anyone to join with you if your prospects can't detect your enthusiasm for your business? That definitely comes through when talking with people. It is always best to have your heart into what you do. It just makes it easier.
Now, that you have chosen a company to join, here comes the hardest part, finding the right sponsor for YOU. There are many different personalities out there and you want to work with someone who you can get along with and feel comfortable with.
There are many pitfalls or mistakes people make when choosing the right sponsor or mentor to help them succeed in their new business. When searching for that mentor you want to avoid these three specific areas.
1) The first and probably the most important mistake to avoid, is not calling your mentor personally. Don't make the mistake like many others do, by just joining a business without picking up the phone and speaking with the person you'll be working with.
Don't make that mistake. This is your business and you want to be sure that your sponsor will be accessible when you need them. If you call them and they don't answer or return your call in a prompt fashion, usually within 24-48 hours, how will you be able to rely on them for help when you need it?
The same standard goes for email communication as well. If you are getting auto responder messages only and don't get a personal email communication after you sent an email to them wanting more info, then that is usually a sign of an incompetent sponsor.
Remember that they are supposed to be there for you. This will be your business and you want to make sure the sponsor that you'll be working with can help you when you need it most. I feel that having a connection or bond with that person can also help in your quest for success. Making money with those that you like and get a long with is a lot more fun!
2) The second mistake to avoid when choosing your sponsor is not asking enough questions. You want to ask as many questions as you can about the business and find out what specific help they will provide you with.
This will lead you to ask about what other resources do they have access to, such as additional mentors or leaders in the business to help you too. The more help and access to successful people the better.
Questions about a sponsors background can tell you a lot about that person. What have they done in the past and does it seem that their personal history will benefit you in your new business? This can be very revealing.
3) The last key to avoid when choosing a sponsor is rushing your decision. You don't want to jump in with both feet the first time you see the business. Take some time to really think if this is what you want to do.
To be profitable in any business, you must realize that it takes time and effort to build. There are no magic bullets or super secrets that can make you rich without putting in that time and effort.
Many people make the mistake of joining a business strictly on emotion. By knowing this, many marketers will zero in on your emotional hot buttons to try and convince you to join with them right away and make you feel like you'll lose money if you don't. This creates fear of loss, which is a VERY powerful emotion.
They will also pray upon your emotion of greed, which will make you feel that you can make all this money without doing a whole heck of a lot for it. Have you ever heard, "only an hour a week in this business and you can make 100 grand a year?" Yeah right, give me a break! If that were the case, everyone would be rich.
These "hypsters" as I like to call them, will try to convince you that they have all the answers and can make you a very substantial income with virtually no time spent at all on your business. Simply give them your money and there system will do the rest. Just sit back and make a fortune. Sorry, that is absolutely false!
This is a business and to be profitable in any business, it takes time and effort on the business owner's part. When times get tough, you need to focus even harder and stay committed to your goals.
This is why you must take every precaution when choosing a mentor to help you in your business. They will need to be there for you and answer your questions when they come up, because they will. Don't feel bad for grilling your would be sponsor/mentor. Remember, this is not personal, it's business. You have to look out for number one, that's YOU!
You must always remember that with a "burning desire" to succeed and the help of others who are experienced, you are unstoppable. Don't hold back and give it all you've got. If your true desire is for success, you can will achieve it. Put that goal out there and do whatever it takes to reach it. You will become a better person because of it! Go Get 'em.
