As you read every word of this article you will discover advanced NLP tactics that will boggle your mind.
We all use embedded commands when speaking to one another either intentionally or not such as lowering our voice and speaking part of a sentence Slower than our normal speech. This is normally to bring emphasis to a particular statement or Action. Sometimes it almost has a hypnotic effect.
When building your relationship with your online reader you don't have the luxury of being able to use these techniques or by observing body language, unless you embed a video in your sales copy.
When using the written word for your Sales or Web Copy, embedded commands in you text can have a similar effect and if done well can help lead your reader to take the action you require them to take.
For example, lets examine this phrase:
1. I wonder how quickly you are going to buy this product?
Imagine that the above statement appears in the body of your sales copy. What would the effect be on the reader? It seems quite harmless. Your reader may acknowledge this as a ‘perhaps' or ‘possible' comment however Embedded within this short phrase is a powerful Command.
…You are going to buy this product.
When writing these Embedded Commands in real sales copy it is best to use BOLD or Italics to differentiate them between your normal text and the Embedded Command Text. The reader will acknowledge the Bold or Italic command statement and subconsciously follow it.
The reason people tend to follow these types of statements is very complex, however it relates to the two sides of the human brain (the left and the right). Embedded Commands tend to avoid the logical left side of the brain and as such the reader is unaware of what is causing their desire.
The key to using these statements effectively is to place them throughout your sales copy to build the desire slowly but always re-enforcing the desire for your product or service.
Some Other examples of Embedded commands are:
2. Say Yes to this Offer
3. Learn This Secret
4. Pick Up the Phone
5. Get Your Hands on This
All of the above statements look innocent enough but they are all helping to build the need for your product or service and if used correctly can help create the desire you require within your reader to take action.
All of this helps to build that relationship with your reader that is crucial in him or her taking action.
You might be asking how do you write these sorts of commands? The answer is easy. The optimum numbers of words to use is between three and seven. Always write in the imperative voice. I.e. start with the verb that presupposes the subject ‘you'.
