[O385]Own Carpet Cleaning Business
by James Carlson, Jam

If you own a carpet cleaning business you know that it is a business with ups and downs. It is definitely a seasonable business. It is on average 6 months of boom, 3 months of average and 3 months of slow times. It does not have to be this way however. Read this article for some tips on diversifying your business.

The first way that you can diversify your business for more stability is to add commercial business. Commercial carpet cleaning unlike residential carpet cleaning is not seasonal. They have to get their carpets and upholstery cleaned year round and they often set up regular cleanings. This makes it business that you an depend on. Once you get a commercial customer they are more than likely yours for years if you treat them right. Another way to diversify is to add on other services that residential home owners need. I am sure you already do upholstery cleaning but there is much more to clean in the average home. You can add wood floor cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, drapery cleaning, air duct cleaning, window cleaning, maid service, make ready cleaning and the list goes on and on. Usually all you need to do to add these services is purchase a little equipment and take a few training classes. Talk to your local carpet cleaning supplier and see what courses they have coming up. If they do not have one, consider traveling to a nearby city that does. The expense of the trip is well worth it and you can of course write it off. Lastly you might consider doing water or smoke damage restoration. Many cleaners do this but keep in mind that there are a few pitfalls to entering this area of work. There is a large amount of equipment you need to buy so you need to be committed. You also need to have good insurance and you will need to take many classes to learn how to dry structures and clean up fire damage. Being on call twenty four hours a day can also drive some people nuts so be aware that the money is good but the work can be hard.

As you can see there are many ways for you to diversify your business. You do not have to put up with the slow times if your business performs a variety of different services. Just be sure to research your decision before you jump into anything. Good luck.

Meticulous cleaning means good business. Whenever you perform a good performance in cleaning for your client, you are ensured of a good payment. You are also sure of your client coming back for more of your cleaning services. To make certain that all your clients will look for your services again, do these simple things, especially if you are into carpet cleaning business.

Carpet cleaning service works like any other general businesses. Since carpets are very hard to clean and known to be very heavy, mostly companies who deal with cleaning carpets have to spend money to buy special cleaning products to make carpets look clean and fresh. Such cleaning may be hard to achieve, but with the right attitude, the right tools, and with the right kind of people, nothing could go wrong.

Capital is important in making a good business. You can't just open a business somewhere without spending money. You have to spend for things like the cost of an office rental, machineries, cleaning products, ads, fliers, and more. Also, you have people who work for you and they have to be paid as well. It's very impossible for an individual to run things all by himself, especially if he wants to run a big business. You must have manpower to make your life easier.

Once you have your capital ready, get through the usual basics: such as getting a business permit; apply for a bonding, get some office space or if you can't afford one yet, make your home as your temporary office, and hire some people who are specialized into carpet cleaning.

Now that you have set up your own carpet cleaning business, the only problem is to get clients. It may be very tricky to get clients since most offices and other companies are loyal to other competitors. Others have hired their own man to clean carpets for them. Although the situation may be a bit bleak, but don't fret over since you can get clients if you work hard.

If you have extra cash, get advertized. You may contact your local newspaper and get listed on the classified ads. Newspapers accept paid ads, depending on the size and the text. You can also get online and post up free ads as well. There are tons of poplar websites that you can look into.

One way to get your business recognized is to offer free services to selected people for a limited time. Tell them that it's a promotional offer. The reason behind is that once you did a good job of cleaning their carpet, your friends will help you advertise your through word of mouth. You may also provide them with your business cards in case if they are interested.

The important thing is that you use smart judgment when you open a business ? especially on carpet cleaning. It's a tough job and you face hurdles and competitions along the way. But hey, that's what makes a business so exciting and challenging, right? So for the brave ones out there who would like to venture at this kind of thing, good luck!
