[P13]Paid Online Surveys Scams
by Garth Turner, Gar
If you're looking for a fun, fulfilling way of earning money online, you may want to consider taking paid surveys. Filling out surveys is a job that doesn't require any experience, and can be very rewarding and is a great way to earn some extra cash at times that are convenient for you. So why are so many people skeptical about them?
There are scams out there, and yes it's true that some sites do charge a membership fee to get started on filling out surveys, however, there are a few who return value for this fee (usually $40-$50). They offer the resources and guidance required to allow you to access some of the best companies in the world that require surveys to be taken.
In order to find out which paid surveys company are good, you should read reviews to find out what members are saying. There are forums dedicated to help people learn about ways to make money online while working at home, including paid surveys.
Signing up with the right legitimate program initially is important as that first program will either inspire or frustrate you. You may want to consider signing up for a few different paid legitimate programs to see how they all vary from one another. Also you'll have double the companies and surveys available in which to choose from so you can pick the surveys that parallel your own interests. A particular program that I've had much success with is Make Money Taking Surveys so it may be a good place to start.
In my experience the online survey companies that charge a sign-up fee have the best opportunities. This is because the membership money they receive helps them to pay for maintaining a larger updated database of valid companies with surveys that need to be completed. They update with new surveys more often, so you'll have plenty to fill out.
Fill out every survey that is offered to you, even a few that offer prizes or certificates if the company is a reputable one. That way you can start to build a good record with this company and show them that you're serious about their surveys. So long as you fill the surveys out in a sensible and accurate manner the number of surveys that this particular company with provide you will increase.
One of the greatest things about online paid survey work, especially from good legitimate programs, is that you can fill out the surveys from anywhere in the world at anytime, and still earn the money needed to pay your bills. Just imagine how neat it would be to fire your old boss so you can be your own boss.

Surveys, online and offline, can be lucrative to the extent they can generate some serious extra income for you. There are several ways to spot the good from the bad but it's important to remember if you are a "survey virgin" just take your time and don't be tempted to jump into the first survey you come across.

Survey Danger Signs To Avoid

Due diligence involves analysing several aspects of a survey offer and with a little practice on your part and some references from reliable sources, then you can be well on your way in earning some extra income. Let's take a look at some danger signs to avoid.

- The first golden rule is always; if it's too good to be true then it usually is. I never get tired of telling eager opportunists this.

- Look out for extremely attractive offers which don't seem to fit the situation. By this I mean if a survey is only going to take you 5 minutes to complete online and you are being offered outrageous incentives to take it, I'd suggest give it a wide berth!

- Always check to see if a site has contact information. Preferably phone contact; in fact, I am so rigid that if I cannot contact them by phone I usually move on. However, email support is usually sufficient and a good way to test this is to send an email. Firstly, you are checking to see if you get a response and secondly, the response time factor is very important.

- Look out for the outrageous testimonials. You know the type...documented reports featuring customers grinning from ear to ear. These can be easily fabricated but before you decide it's a scam, do a background check on the site. See if they have contact details. Just don't be tempted to jump at an opportunity and give all your personal details and then regret it later.

- Be wary of sites which require an up front membership fee. Free sites usually provide the same information such as a list of survey sites for you to explore. Be wary of any grand guarantees and make sure there is scope for you to get your money back.

In a sense, the above points are basically simple common sense. One area that is disturbing to many is the number of elderly people can who fall victim to survey scams. First time internet or inexperienced onliners are ideal targets for many unscrupulous operators. The sad part is, there are excellent paid online survey sites and opportunities out there but the trick is, "wading through the seaweed" to find them.
