[P16]Paid To Lose Weight
by Sydney Hayes--health360, Syd
There is an exciting new research report out today revealing that financial incentives are surprisingly effective in motivating people to lose weight. Weight-loss programs that rewarded people with cash with a reminder of what they stand to lose if they fail proved to be a powerful motivator to losing weight when compared with conventional methods. It seems that the reason conventional methods fail is due to the fact that people attempting to lose weight are being asked to make sacrifices today for the anticipation of a reward in the future.

The study developed two types of incentive programs. The first was a lottery-based design in which participants played a lottery and were allowed to collect their winnings if they met their weight loss target. It is well known that people are more fearful of losing something than they are about getting something. In essence it's how you think about the object of your desire. Instead of thinking about the sacrifices of what food you are giving up the focus is redirected to the lost of the opportunity to win your prize.

The second incentive program was a deposit contract where a small amount of their own money was invested, between 1 cent and $3 per day, which they would lose at the end of the month if they failed to reach their goal.

Participants in the lottery group earned a total of $378.49 and lost about 13 pounds, while participants in the deposit group received $272.80 and lost 14 pounds. The control group, whose only reward was better fitting clothes, lost about 4 pounds after four months.

When I heard about this study today I felt the need to share it with everybody within earshot of this article. All to often claims are made that are in the best interest of the one making the statement and not the receiver. I am a beachbody coach. I'm not a professional trainer or nutritionist my job as a coach is to motivate my customers who ask me to do just that. At Beachbody you have access to professional trainers and nutritionist and a host of other great benefits when you decide to become a member. Not to stray to far, what excited me about the study I read today was that Beachbody has been paying people to lose weight for years. Members have a chance to win $300 everyday of the week except one, an on that day the prize is $1,000. Not only do you have a chance at the daily prizes, but also there are eight winners each month, four men and four women who are paid to lose weight. They are selected from four different age groups: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+. The best male and female entries each month wins $10,000 and the six other contestants win $1,000 just to lose weight. I am proud to be part of an organization that has your best interest in mind. Reading about this study today demonstrates that Beachbody is not a gimmick. If you are serious about losing weight checkout my website at http://thistimeyournotalone.com and lets work together. I look forward to hearing from you.

Here is a bonus; this is a business opportunity as well. I joined to lose weight and take advantage of the business opportunity. I earn money in two ways as I lose weight. I spread the word about the benefits of Beachbody an earn commissions as well as the opportunity to win the daily and monthly prizes. You don't have to do both that choice is yours. Without a doubt this is a very profitable business if you decide to become a coach like me and it is a lot of fun. I hope today is the day you decide to join us, but if not have a good day and a better tomorrow.
