[P104]Patio Umbrella With Base
by Kenny Leichester, Ken

The world is no longer garlanded with plush green trees and the oceans are not as blue as it used to be. The trees have been replaced by huge concrete blocks. These blocks are graced with glass panes and steel rods which seem to be what's holding them up. While the days will be filled with human beings from all walks of life and by night, these humans would have left the building to rest in their homes, ready for another bustling day tomorrow.

These big concrete blocks are more commonly known as skyscrapers. Everyday, we see more and more of skyscrapers being added to our scenery. All these concrete, glass and steel have replace the surrounding Mother Nature has provided us. More trees are sacrificed everyday in order to make way for the skyscrapers and other buildings. Even the hills and the mountains cannot escape the wrath of humans. Animals are deprived of their habitual area and are even sacrificed in the course of action. Humans may not stop until the day they find there are no more trees to chop down, hills to get earth from and animals only exists in books.

As humans, we could never run away from our own natural preference and that is to live in this world surrounded by the beauty of nature. We may not be able to live in an undeveloped world but we still want the trees and the animals to be a part of the world we live in.

What we see today are a symbol of what we have lost so much. Most of us, more likely those in the middle aged group have gardens that we take very good care of and nurture passionately. They talk to their plants and use the best fertilizer to make it grow into a piece of nature's paradise at home.

It is time to attract more individuals to care about Mother Nature. The simplest way is to cultivate their interest in beautifying the garden. The patio is a great place to start as this is the place where you can actually view the whole garden. Instead of only putting a shoe cupboard there, arrange some sofas, chairs and if possible, a coffee table. This is a great setting for an afternoon tea party. To make it truly perfect, all you need is a patio umbrella. There are a wide variety of umbrellas to choose from. There is bound that there is a patio umbrella that is just the right one for your garden. There is even umbrellas that are attached to tables. You can now throw yourself into the middle of the whole excitement by placing this innovative invention in the middle of your garden. Now, no matter rain or shine, there is simply no excuse to enjoy your garden at whatever time you want, in whatever kinds of weather condition.

Complete your garden with patio umbrella and you will never regret the investment you made. The garden will transform into an enjoyable place for you and your family regardless if it rains or shine. You can now have birthday parties for the children out in the garden and not worry about the little ones catching nasty cold should it rain or getting sunburn should the sun sizzles on the designated afternoon. With the comfort of enjoying the garden regardless of the weather, you will certainly come to appreciate your garden more than ever.

Offset umbrellas gives you the chance of shading everyone. It can be twist to any angle easily. This adjustable function allows you to stay in the garden all day long without a single ray touching your skin. You can now swim in comfort with the big umbrella above you. To be able to do something you truly love without suffering from unwanted side effects is truly one of the best things in life.

By placing several umbrellas in your garden, your teenage sons and daughters would be rushing to spend their time in the garden. They will learn to appreciate the great outdoors as much as you are. Thus, they will commit themselves in loving nature and cultivate a sense of responsibility to the dying Mother Nature below their noses.

An umbrella does make wonders.

With your backyard paradise completely set, you've found that you're running into one major problem: you have no escape from the sun. Sure, you have the perfect patio furnishings, an amazing picnic table, and all the fixings that one could ask for when living in the great outdoors. Except when the mercury rises, your friends and family are running to the air conditioned freedom of your home.

So you need a patio umbrella – the perfect item to complete your patio set. But you are not sure where you want it to stand, or how you want it to work. You know you need some escape from the shade in this lifetime (which rules out planting a tree), but you are not sure how it needs to be implemented into your version of the great outdoors. With all the styles and types of patio furniture out there, which one is right for you?

The first thing to consider is the size of the area you will want to cover with your umbrella. Is it a large, open space? Or is it a small, enclosed area? Are you going to have a table be the centerpiece of the shaded area, or will you leave it open for people to stand in and out of? The size of the area will greatly affect the size and type of umbrella you will purchase. As a general rule, always buy an umbrella five feet bigger than the area you want in the shade.

Once you are settled on a size for your patio umbrella, its time to determine what function you want it to serve. While center-fixed umbrellas will give you shade in a traditional means, offset umbrellas will allow you to have a walking space underneath. A regular, traditional umbrella is perfect for putting in the middle of a patio table, offering shade for your guests as they eat dinner, whereas a offset umbrella will attract friends and family to the perfect social spot.

So now you've decided on what kind of patio umbrella you want. Now, its time to decide what material you want your umbrella to be made out of. Yes, even patio umbrellas come in different shapes and sizes, and out of many different materials. Wood umbrellas can be very decorative, but because of its make, has a shorter life span than other materials you could select. Metal frames are some of the most popular umbrellas out there, and offer a longer life span than other materials. However, because of how they are built, metal frames tend to be heavier than other materials. Fiberglass umbrella frames are also very popular, because they are the lightest and most portable of all the makes and materials. However, fiberglass frames usually come in a limited amount of designs and finishes, making them limited as to how they can fit into your greater scheme of your patio.

Now that you've determined what you want your patio umbrella to be made out of, its time to put together the material you want your canopy to be made out of. Yes, there are many different types of cloth that your canopy can be made out of. If you want absolute shade underneath, purchase a canopy made of canvas or cotton. Canvas and Cotton are also tear-resistant, able to withstand blustery days. If you want a little sun coming through your canopy, try a less heavy cloth, like nylon. While it will provide a warm escape in the sweltering months, it is less resistant to wear and tear, meaning you will have to repair and replace it often.

Patio umbrellas can be the perfect item to tie everything on your patio together. However, without careful thought, your umbrella can be more of a burden than a benefit. By considering all of the above, you will guarantee that your patio umbrella will be a great asset, and provide enjoyment for years to come.
