Yet Christmas is also a season tarnished by novelty knitted jumpers, Santa socks, loud ties, sparkly bauble earrings and flashing badges (and by flashing we mean lights!) New Year's Eve ranks up there as being one of the top three loneliest nights of the year if you are alone, and not by choice. But don't worry -- while it may be a well kept secret -- the truth is, most singles are either home alone or staying in with family. That said, if you are home alone, don't despair, these tips are for you:
- Get your favorite pizza ordered in and commit to a night of DVD movies.
- Phone date. Call your friends from different parts of the country.
- Invite other singles over for a take-in dinner. The truth is you'll probably have more fun with these friends than you would at a big shebang with people you don't know well at all.

According to a yahoo, Personals Survey, 40 percent of single women are asking Santa to bring them someone to marry in the next year, while 38 percent of single men are just hoping to get a hot date for New Year's Eve. More than 1,000 single people from across the country offered insights into their wish lists for holiday party dates, meeting the parents, celebrity mistletoe encounters and more.
Willing to go solo?
While 86 percent of singles are willing to go to a holiday party alone, nearly half (43 percent) admitted that it's sad to be single during the holidays.
Singles in the Midwest are the most likely to stay home if they don't have a date to a holiday party.

Be a Gentleman
Open the door for her and hold it, let her walk during the door first, haul out her chair; be gracious to her and the people around you. Women like to feel extraordinary and by treating her like a lady she will think you are unbelievable.
Compliment Her
Try to give her good compliments like "you are looking so beautiful" before you even ask how she is. Listen to Her and Ask Questions:
Ask her questions, but more significantly listen to what she has to say. There is not anything more that a woman likes than when someone is attracted in what they have to say.
I keep in mind one time I was sitting in a restaurant waiting for some friends. That time I saw a man and woman sitting near to our table. I think it was their first date as of what he was telling her about himself. "I play Sunday football, I like boxing".... She was just sitting there sleepy a little every so often, and looking bored so after this I got idea that took an interest in what she had to say.
Prepare
Think about your date and what you would like to know about her, and in return what you would like her to know about you. Think of a few questions that she might ask you and be preparing to give the answer. If you think that it is easy to talk, But until you are there, and in the circumstances, you have no suggestion what it will be like. You can go on to see a movie, so at least you will have something to talk about.
Who Will Pay?
Now women are independent and similar to to pay their way. I advise that you offer to pay and if she lets you, and then pay. Even though she wishes to pay, you can argue that you want to at least pay for half the bill.
The Goodnight Kiss
Some women desire not to kiss after a date; others are upset if the guy doesn't even try. There is no easy answer to this. The simple answer is that waits for some time and watch out for body language and small touches, but not do sex on the first date unless she wants to.
I'll call you
This is an awkward situation, and mainly the easiest solution is, to take her number and tell her you will call her, but don't if you are not interested. In last just says "It was nice meeting with you" and just say good night with smile, and walk away. But if you are interested in her, then you have to let her know.
