Ready kits available

These days, there are kits available off the shelf in various stores using which you can make your own outdoor swing sets. However, if you love to make things from the basics, merely assembling the pieces together will not offer you any real fun.

Thus, such types of kits allow you more amount of creative freedom in deciding how you want your outdoor swing sets to look like. The pricing of such kits will of course be much more than the readily assembled kits in the market but the investment is worth it because of the fun it provides.

Most of these kits, however, do not have accessories as part of the packaging so you might need to shell out more to invest in such parts. You would also need access to and knowledge of some basic tools and have specific skills in woodworking. The entire process of creating your outdoor swing sets using such kits can take anywhere between a few days to as much as a week.

From scratch

Then there is the other option for the really adventurous people for making outdoor swing sets from scratch. It is definitely not as difficult as you might think it to be.

-Building plans: You will need to download or buy building plans if you do not have prior experience in making these outdoor swing sets. These plans are easily available online free and have been previously tested for their efficiency. Hence, it makes sense to use them instead of experimenting all the way.

-Ground preparation: Most outdoor swing sets typically do not require real foundations but you do need to have stable and smooth ground surfaces. You will need to dig holes into the points at which the outdoor swing sets should be attached. Certain projects of your outdoor swing sets will necessitate concrete foundations beneath pillars but this is optional.

-Materials: You need angle brackets, frame brackets A of metal type, stocks, eye bolts, screws, boards which are pressure treated, carpenter's level, squares and miscellaneous tools. For cushions, you need pillows and additional fabric.

-Part preparation: You need thorough drawings of all parts and all instructions.

-Assembling: You can work on individual parts in your own workshop or at home but make sure to assemble at the place where you can fix the outdoor swing sets into the ground.

-Painting: Next, you need to paint, treat and secure the outdoor swing sets to ground level.

Children are not playing outside as much as they did many years ago. Now they are too busy playing video games, watching television, or surfing the internet. Many years ago you could see kids out playing in their front yards or riding their bikes down the street. Now it seems that nothing is available to grab a kid's attention long enough to keep them outside for very long. The biggest problem with this is that kids are getting more and more obese every day, because they are not getting the exercise that they need. A good way to get your children interested in playing outside is to put a swing set in your backyard when they are young, so they get used to playing outside.

A swing set is a very good way to grab a kid's attention, because a child can use their imagination to play hundreds of games on one. A swing set also has many different obstacles and activities that allow a kid to get all of the exercise that they need to stay happy and healthy. Before buying and installing a swing set in your backyard you must decide how much money you would like to spend, how much room you have in your backyard, whether you would like to hire a professional installer to install the swing set, and what activities you would like to have included on the swing set.

A swingset can easily cost four to five thousand dollars, but you can also find many swing sets that are very nice for less than one thousand dollars. Most swing sets are modular in design, so you can buy the base unit pretty cheap, but it does not take long to really raise the price of your swing set.

The next important thing to determine before buying a swingset is how much room you have available in your backyard. Not only must the swing set fit into your backyard, but you must also make sure there is enough room around the swing set for children to play without hurting themselves.

Some people have a knack for putting things together, and they will probably not have a problem putting together a swingset. However other people can barely put together a bed frame, so these people need to seek professional help when assembling a swing set. Usually a professional installer will charge anywhere from one hundred to three hundred dollars to assemble a swing set.

Some kids like to play on the swings; some kids like a slide, some parents are worried about having rings or monkey bars. A swing set allows children to play on many different things, but you need to make sure which activities your kids like, and which activities you are comfortable with them doing.
