[O362]Outdoor Wrought Iron Patio Furniture
by Andy West -, And
The right patio furniture is an important decision when you're getting ready for the warm spring and summer months. There's nothing that compares to entertaining your friends in your back yard or deck on sunny days or warm, breezy evenings, and having attractive, comfortable furnishings can make a real difference. Today there are so many options that it can be confusing when you go shopping.

Right now PVC patio furniture with vinyl cushions are very popular, as well as various kinds of wood furniture. But wrought iron patio furniture is seeing a resurgence in popularity as well, and you should definitely take another look at this formerly traditional style of furniture. It's now being re-invented in a number of new styles and has lots of advantages that make it an excellent choice for outdoor use.

Wrought Iron Fits Any Style

If you shop around you'll discover that wrought iron patio furniture has evolved from the traditional flowery styles of the fifties patio. Today you can find tables, chairs, bars and stools that run the gamut from sleek and angular to elaborately decorated with design motifs such as grape clusters and twining vines. If you have a Mediterranean style back porch, you'll find wrought iron patio furniture with delicately curved arches and swirls. If you like art deco, look for broad, straight edges and sharp lines.

Most wrought iron patio furniture comes in black, a wonderful neutral that goes with any d'cor, but you can easily personalize iron furniture and make it your own with a simple coat of paint. Just spray paint in your choice of colors and finishes for a stylish way to personalize the look, then sit back and enjoy the compliments.

It's Easy to Care For

Today's wrought iron will withstand years of punishing weather without rust because it has been treated and then carefully painted with a rust-resistant finish so that you don't have to worry about leaving it out in the elements. Unlike wood furniture, there is no concern about wood rot from rain or collected moisture, too much drying from the sun leading to splitting or warping or other effects of the elements.

Cleaning wrought iron patio furniture is easy, simply wipe it down periodically with a mild soap and rinse with clear water. There's no scrubbing or special care required.

It's Versatile

There is no other type of patio furniture that can be used in so many different ways. Wrought iron tables can have glass tops so that the graceful legs are shown off to their best advantage, or can be used to frame mosaic tile works of art. Because the iron can be bent into almost any shape imaginable, you'll find patio tables and chairs in a variety of shapes and sizes to compliment any size deck or yard, from dainty side tables to tuck into a corner to oversized dining tables with matching lounge chairs.

It's Attractive and Airy

The lasting appeal of wrought iron for outdoor use is undoubtedly in large part due to its appearance, which is open, airy and informal. When you're shopping for patio furniture, you want pieces that reflect that casual, laid-back lifestyle you're hoping to capture and wrought iron does this beautifully with its openwork and light appearance.

When you're ready to complete the look of your deck or back yard, be sure to consider every option and choose furnishings that will reflect your taste and lifestyle and last for years. There are many different kinds from plastic to wood, but you will probably find that wrought iron is one of the best investments you can make for looks, durability and quality in patio furniture.

We live in a pretty harsh climate and we have a fairly limited amount of space. We love to entertain outdoors, but coming up with durable patio furniture has been a problem. It feels like practically every year, we have to buy new plastic patio furniture, and by the end of the season it looks horrible. Between late freezes, high winds, falling leaves and all the rest, None of it lasts very long. Even wooden patio furniture seems to fall apart fairly quickly, and we have bought some pretty dependable stuff.

At first, I was a little bit reluctant to try out wrought iron patio furniture. There is so much going against wrought iron patio sets, after all. First of all, wrought iron chairs are a bit uncomfortable on the behind. They have no give to them at all, and many of them have a design that is more crafted for ornament than for comfort.

What iron patio tables, of course, seemed to make sense to me, but they were so expensive. I was also worried that the wrought iron patio furniture would start to rust in the harsh outdoor weather. I did not want to make that kind of investment only to have everything looking trashed within a year.

I needn't have worried. It turns out the wrought iron patio furniture has come a long way since I was a kid. Most of it is rust treated and made of a type of iron that resists oxidation. In addition, although wrought iron patio furniture is not quite as comfortable and ergonomically designed as plastic furniture can be, the designs still have improved.

When I tried wrought iron patio chairs out, I was surprised by how long you can comfortably sit in one without having any problems. You could easily sit outdoors for several hours in complete comfort.

Picking out wrought iron patio furniture was another matter. It was hard to select and purchase something that we knew would be so permanent. After all, we were so used to having patio furniture that wore out quickly that we were unprepared for how difficult a decision it might be.

We haven't bought new permanent furniture in several years, you see, because it is always such a flight to pick something out. I had worried that buying a wrought iron patio set would be every bit as much of an ordeal, but there was no reason to worry. It turns out that we found the perfect set almost right away.
