[S314]Seo And Web Design
by Doctor Gupta, Doc
Search Engine Optimization focuses on increasing traffic to a website while web design includes making the website presentable, easily accessible and attractive. One of the most heated webmasters' debates is the importance of SEO and web design. Which is more important? Should you consider spending more time on SEO or focus more on web design? Certainly, both are vital to a website's success but which is more essential? For more details about it visit www.offline-promotion.com. The idea to write this post came into my mind when I read a thread on a webmaster's forum called Web Cosmo forums. The thread received several interesting replies which I thought I should share with you guys. However, before we get into this debate, let's first start with some background information.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
What exactly does SEO do for a website? Simply, it gets you more traffic! With good SEO, your website will rank higher in Seeps and you will get more and more traffic. It is one of the cheapest ways of marketing that never sleeps. Furthermore, your traffic will be targeted and thus will help you increase sales.
Web Design
Once a visitor reaches your site, good content is not always what he (lets assume it's a guy) will look for there. An attractive web design compels a visitor to stay longer and makes it easier for him to focus on the content without too many distractions.
So both SEO and web design have their own benefits but which one is more important? Without SEO your website will only get minimum amount of traffic regardless of what a great design your website has. Furthermore, without traffic all the hard work you put into the design will not even get appreciated. However, good SEO may get you a lot of traffic but a lot of that traffic may not stay longer than few seconds if your website has a horrible design.
Thus, I believe that both SEO and Web design are extremely important to make a website successful. However, since I have to choose one, I will pick SEO. But I am not saying that you should only focus on SEO and ignore web design. Take your time to build the website carefully. Spend sufficient amount of time on both but spend a little more time on SEO. This way you will get traffic and still have a reasonably attractive website.
This is just my opinion and I think that it would be better if I presented you with some different point of views.
I think those two are sort of different things, although design helps SEO. I would prefer SEO. For more details visit www.seo-prediction.com. Because I have seen crapy looking sites make millions of dollars doing SEO right. You can achieve both. An SEO site does not have to be dull looking at all. - By amritrr
SEO most likely...after all users search to get information. But we can't deny the web design helps a lot particularly in interface and user friendliness. To keep the user browses the page more - By 2fk

Harry was one of the fastest web designers the forest had ever seen. He could churn out a site in no time while Tom consistently worked late into the night trying to get his work done.

One day Harry met Tom at the local Spareducks for coffee.

“I bet I can finish the ‘Stork Appreciation' site before you can finish the ‘Stop and Smell the Roses” site,” Harry said with a slightly evil chuckle.

“Well, I don't know,” Tom said slowly.

“Ah, that's what I thought. You're a chicken,” Harry replied.

“OK the first one to reach the top ten with their respective keywords will be the winner,” Tom said.

Harry readily agreed and slurped down his Espresso con Panna. Like a shot Harry was off to work on his newest website creation. Tom took his time and finished his Espresso Lungo with just a hint of caramel.

The next morning Tom arrived at work to continue designing his website when Harry called and said, “Silly tortoise, you should never try to outdo a rabbit. I worked late last night and the website is done. I sent you a link. Check your email.”

Tom listened to the rabbit cackle as he hung up the phone.

Tom took his time making sure every page, Meta title, photograph and article was SEO friendly. He made sure he submitted information to the main Internet directories and he quietly watched as his finished website rose in the search engine rankings.

Then came the morning when the site was ranked in the top ten. That's when he called Harry, “Did you notice I won the contest?”

“What contest?” the rabbit bellowed.

Tom explained and the rabbit was fit to be tied.

“It's like my dad always said, Harry, ‘Slow and steady, wins the race,'” Tom replied.

The moral of this fractured fairly tale is that simply building a website is not enough to ensure that people will visit or that search engines will take notice.

Like the children's story, the individual that is methodical and consistent in web development and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) will likely do much better in the long run than a hastily prepared site that lacks a cohesive purpose in online marketing.

Do everything you can to optimize your website with specific keywords or phrases and watch your site visitation statistics improve.
