[S148]School Newspaper Article Ideas
by Ben Watson, Ben
If you are reading this article, you probably already know that article marketing is a great tool to promote your website and your business. Many experts say it is one of the best methods to drive traffic to your site and thus put money in your pocket. The dilemma is that for most of us, finding the time to write articles is difficult. Even more troublesome can be trying to find new ideas to write about.

Start by cataloging the questions that you seem to be asked every day. You should be able to come up with a handful at least. Sometimes in technical fields you can come up with hundreds. Each one of those questions is a budding article. Keep a list of questions and add to it when a new one comes up. Or perhaps you can write a summary of frequently asked questions.

What are some of the new widgets you are selling this year? Are they based on some new technology or trends in the business? Are they offered in new colors or with new options? Are they new and improved? Write about that technology or those trends. Write about the old versus the new. How might each fit with different types of people.

Do your customers have diverse demographics? Write articles adapted to these demographics. Take articles that you have written previously and rework them with a different point of view. In addition to your original article, write articles that are slanted to women or parents, kids or the elderly.

Write articles about significant product attributes. If you sell tennis racquets write about important attributes of a racquet. Remember here that you are not selling a particular racquet in your article; you are educating your customer how to choose the right product for them. You are an expert on your products by virtue of knowing more about your products than many of your customers. Use that expertise and write articles that explain tips and tricks to less experienced users.

What do your customers do with your products? Do you sell hiking shoes; write about places to go hiking. Write about other hiking gear or clothing even if you don't sell it. Write about hiking safety. By writing articles on these related topics, you are establishing yourself as an expert in your field. Your customers will have more confidence in purchasing from you and will better trust your purchasing advice.

One of the simplest ways to come up with articles is to take frequent subjects in your business and make lists. Five type of wear to look for. Six ways to tell if your dog has dandruff. The other great thing about lists is that they lend themselves well to creating unique articles. Simply write a ?Five ways to cook Tofu? article, and then vary your articles by replacing some or all of the recipes in your submissions. Dos and Don'ts articles are an additional type of article that is easy to write and lends itself to being rewritten in many variations.

Remember when writing articles that you shouldn't be writing advertisements for your product or services. Clients can see a sales pitch a mile away. Don't try to sell them with your articles. The best articles are those that are designed to inform your customer. A better informed customer is closer to making a purchasing decision. Now when he or she comes to your store, office or website, many times he or she has already made or is very close to making a purchasing decision. As a result you won't have to work as hard to close the sale.

Do you need to write a group or a batch of articles? Whether you are looking to create content for your own website or if you work as a freelance writer, you will need to come up with article ideas. Unfortunately, this is sometimes easier said than done, especially if you aren’t a “seasoned," writer. However, there is good news. That good news is that there are a number of different ways that you can go about getting ideas for your articles. One of those methods involves using online forums.

There is a good chance that you have heard of online forums before. In fact, there is a good chance that you have visited at least one online forum before. Online forums, which may also be referred to as online message forums or online message boards, are places where internet users come together, usually from all around the world. What is nice about the internet is that there are literally millions of online message boards or online forums. Many of these forums are tailored to a specific group of individuals, such as those who work from home, those who are pet owners, or those who are looking to buy a home. Although we often view online message forums as only being a fun source of entertainment, they are actually so much more. In fact, they can help you come up with ideas for your articles.

When it comes to using online forums to get article ideas or topics, it is important that you try and focus on something in particular. As it was mentioned above, a large number of online forums tailor to a specific group of individuals, but not all do. If you are looking to broaden your horizons, it is important that you carefully choose the online message forums that you turn to. It might also be a good idea to examine online forums that cover a wide variety of topics. For instance, there are many forums that are tailored to parents, but topics like home schooling, pets, saving money, and shopping are also discussed. Visiting online message forums like these ones will help to increase your chances of coming up with great article ideas or topics.

Although you can defiantly get a number of article ideas or topics just from visiting an online message forum, you are urged to do more. You should seriously think about registering as a member; most registrations are free. Participating in an online message forum is an even better way to get ideas for you article content. Why, you may ask? Because you can start your own discussions. For example, if you are interested in writing an article on low-cost gifts for your pet, you should start a discussion on the online message board that you just recently registered with. If you receive a lot of feedback or your post is considered a “hot topic," you will automatically know that you have a great idea on your hands. If your topic went undiscovered or only a small number of forum members responded to it, it might not make the best article, especially if you are looking to generate reader interest.

The best chance of success, when using online forums to come up with article ideas and topics, involves registering as a member and actively participating in discussions; however, it isn’t necessary. As previously mentioned, you can also generate a number of article ideas or topics just by reading through an online message board. If you decide to take this approach, it is important that you be on the lookout for members who are asking questions. Questions are asked when a person doesn’t know something or they can’t find the answer online. These types of questions are the ones that you should seriously examine. If you find that a number of internet users regularly ask the same question, that question or at least the general topic may have the workings of a popular internet article.

Using online forums to get content or topic ideas for your next batch of articles is just one of the many approaches that you can take. However, using online forums to your advantage is one of the easiest methods. It is also important to note that it can be fun to do!
