[R286]Retro Football T Shirts
by Gen Wright, Gen
When you start out in a relationship with a guy who loves football, for his birthday you buy him some tickets to a game, for Christmas you buy him a DVD of his team's best goals, for Valentine's day you buy him a mug with his teams' name emblazoned on the front, for your anniversary you buy him......eek! You know that only gifts with some kind of relevance to football are going to be good enough for your man! What to buy the man who loves football and only football, and nothing else but football when he has everything he could possibly ever want that's got to do with football??
Don't fear or fret!!! Many of the people who are hooked on football also love collecting their team's football shirts. In fact, I think it is fair to say that football shirts are probably the most sought after gift of a diehard football fan.

Football shirts distinguish teams and make it easy for fans to show their support and devotion - it's hard to argue with their loyalty when they have their team name emblazoned across their front!
However, most fans already have the current shirt, and more likely than not have the one before that too.... and maybe even the one before that! But what they more than likely do not have is their team's football shirt from years and years ago (and if they have it's more than likely too small in one way or another!!) I'm here to let you know that you can now find football shirts from as far back as the 1950s!!

You can get old-school England team shirts as well as all the different clubs, and they aren't just confined to teams like Liverpool or Manchester United, but include teams like Blackburn Rovers, Hull City, Preston North End and Stoke City. As well as English clubs there are also European club football shirts, for example Barcelona, Inter Milan, PSG and Porto, and national shirts ? Wales, Scotland, Brazil, Ireland, Zaire?. loads and loads of retro shirts to chose from!

I know what you must be thinking ? pretty cool present, that will really be appreciated and will get you lots and lots of 'You're the best girlfriend/mum/dad/aunt/uncle....in the world' feedback! And you'd be right! But I can also hear you thinking: 'there must be a catch somewhere?' NO!!! There is no catch, they are of great quality and they do not cost the earth! So if you want to really make someone's day by making them look like the biggest and longest-time fan of their team then get onto retrofootieshirt website (see below) right now!

Have you ever walked into a stadium in seeing a fan wearing a shirt of your team that was 20 years old and wish to you could have one? Then you take a quick look at them and realize that they weren't even alive when that player played. They are more than likely wearing a retro football shirt and you can do the same.
Whether your team is good or bad, any loyal fan usually has a shirt or jersey with their team's logo on it in their closet. However, teams know when they were performing badly you are less likely to go out and purchase a new shirt. The way around that is to give you a good reason to want one. That reason is usually do to the teams wearing a retro style shirt that will only be out for a short time, meaning if you don't buy it now, you won't be able to get it again in the future.
This was a marketing and data that came about several years ago and is actually quite brilliant. A team wears an older shirt for one game during a season and then they can sell it for the rest of the year. As most fans want to wear whatever the team is wearing, regardless of their play, they will run out and buy a ritual football shirt.
The purpose of that is to remind the older fans that their teams still alive. They may have a shirt of a player that was in the league 20 years ago and they have not bought a football shirts since. The shirt is worn and tattered and almost embarrassing to wear.
If you are alive and well when the style of retro jersey that is now being featured was the current style of your team and your old shirt is tattered and worn, you are more likely to go out and buy the new retro style shirt cities still have a great looking item of your favorite old-time player.
They also allow newer fans to get in touch with the glorious past of their team. While it is usually virtually impossible to get a quality football shirt of a great player from days gone by, when retro football shirts are released, you can do this with ease. Now you can claim to have been a fan from way back when.
As teams are looking for more and more ways to create income and generate interest, each season they usually offer more than one retro football shirt. This is great for a new fan looking to get memorabilia of players from 20 and 30 years ago, but also a way for an older fan to refresh their entire collection.
The craze of retro football shirts is easy to get caught up in. It is always easier to attach yourself to the glory days of a franchise than live through the horrible reality of what your team may have become. Or maybe it's the opposite, your team is now currently great and you are trying to prove your loyalty by wearing an air a shirt when it was almost embarrassing for them to step on the field. Regardless, all true fans support their teams through thick and thin and a retro football shirt allows you to do just that.
