[R289]Return To The Sea Islands
by Pranee Pangngam, Pra
Before you travel to any beaches in Thailand, it would be useful to have necessary information about the places. Knowing some travel tips will also make your trip more enjoyable.

Today we'll talk about 12 tips for traveling to the beach in Thailand. Let's see what they are.

1. When you travel in to the sea or islands in Thailand you should swim in the area under protection of some lifeguards.

2. You should read and follow the safety rules - what you can do; what you can't do for the sake of your own safety. You should also study the international symbols for safety.

3. For young children, especially those who are not good at swimming, they should put on some kinds of safety equipment such as life jacket, lifebelt (or life preserver).

4. Avoid anything that is "too much"! For example, too tired, too cold, too far, too hot, and too many activities.

5. Know the place you're going to swim in sea and islands Thailand. You should know basic information about that place e.g. the deep end and shallow end of the beach, the escape route (in case of emergency), safe and unsafe area, etc. The more you know, the safer you are.

6. Check the weather forecast. There are 3 season in Thailand -- If the weather is bad, avoid swimming.

7. Put your hands and legs into water to check the depth before diving.

8. Don't drink alcohol when you go swimming, diving, or travel by ship. You may have an accident because you are likely to lose balance and self-control when you drink and get drunk. This will affect your swimming and diving ability. Drinking alcohol also decrease the temperature of your body.

9. Drink water frequently though you are not thirsty. Your body needs clean water to keep cool. Avoid drinking caffeinated drinks. Though caffeinated drinks can quickly make you feel fresher, they are not good for your health.

10. When there is any signs of heat stroke (e.g. high temperature, sunburns, unconsciousness), quickly move to stay in a cool place, like in the shade of a tree, or a beach umbrella. Cool the body, armpits, and neck with cool towel, or have ice massage therapy. If not better, go to the doctor immediately.

11. If you have long holidays, you may want to travel to some nearby islands. Don't forget to put on life jacket when you get on board.

12.For booking hotels. You should book the hotels, resorts, or bungalows in advance, especially in the high season. The price of the room on the islands tends to be more expensive. Booking is recommended. (It will help save your money and it can guarantee that you have a room to stay.)
