[S108]Save And Make Money
by Munesh Awasthi, Mun

They say nothing is certain in life other than death and taxes. While I can't do anything to help you with the death thing, I can tell you how online income tax preparation software packages can help you save some money when it comes time to do your taxes. When you are done reading, check the link at the bottom for a review site that has links to free tax preparation software.

Paying taxes is something that everybody must do and most people fear. We look at that April 15th deadline like it was the end of the world and usually try to avoid it at all costs. I am here to tell you that with all the online income tax preparation software packages out there, you need not fear the IRS any longer. For more details www.pure-profit-software.com.All you need to do is get your stuff together then go to the program of your choice and you will be walked through the process of filing your tax return.

Here is a basic list of things you will need to do your taxes. This is the same whether you are doing them yourself, at the local tax professional, or with online income tax preparation software. If you have all of these documents handy, you will zip right through your tax return.

The first thing you need is your income documents. You will need your W-2 from your employer as well as statements for any interest you received from your bank, earnings from investments, and your state tax refund from last year.

The second thing you need is your deductible expenses. If you are paying a mortgage, you will get a statement from your bank telling how much interest you paid. If you donated to charity, your church for example, you should get a statement from them documenting how much you donated. If you are paying off a student loan which has interest on it, again, you should get a statement. You may also have other deductions that you may not have a receipt for. One example I can think of is Good Will donations which are deductible, but you won't get a statement from them. You should have gotten a receipt of sorts when you donated, but you will have to estimate the value of what you donated.

The last information you will need is information on your dependants. You will have to enter social security numbers and information for your spouse and kids in order to claim them and get the appropriate deductions. For more details www.quick-selling-software.com.If you choose a good online tax preparation site, you will be able create an account that will save your information for next year so you won't have to re-enter this information.

Once you have all of these documents, just go to the online income tax preparation software program you choose and start entering the information. The program you choose should walk you through filling out the information and e-file for you so you won't even have to mail in your return. Easy as 1,2 3 as long as you have all your documents together.

- Call hotels at 4PM on Sunday to reserve a room for anytime within the next 2 to 3 weeks. You'll have a better chance of getting a low rate from a front desk clerk who understands that an unsold room is revenue the hotel will never recover. Don't call the hotel's 800 number - you're likely to be put thru to a national reservation line. Look up the hotel's number in the city you plan to visit.

- Request weekend rates. At some hotels, weekend rates are 1/3 of regular rates. If you're staying through the week, ask that the cheaper weekend rates be extended. Make sure the room rate reflects hidden charges, such as resort fees, as well as taxes.

- Consider alternative lodging. Many hostels have gone upscale and offer private rooms for $25 to $160 a night. For information, contact Hostelling International USA (301-495-1240).

- Go back to school! More than 70% of colleges rent dorm rooms at reasonable prices throughout popular vacation periods.

RENTAL CARS...

- Call the local rental location. If you use the toll-free number to make a reservation, you may not get the lowest rate or the best car. Local operators can price cars to reduce a temporary surplus.

- Avoid renting at airport lots. They can be substantially mor expensive than in-city ones

- Rent on Sunday. There's a good chance cars will be available because customers requested them for the weekend but never showed up to claim them.

CRUISES...

- Book a cruise at the last minute. Many routes have more berths than passengers. Some travel agents and consolidators offer great last-minute packages.

Warning - Cruise lines now charge for extras that used to be included, such as some onboard recreational activities. Make sure you understand what's included and what's not!

AIRFARE...

- Be flexible. When calling airlines, don't provide travel dates to reservation agents upfront. Instead, ask the agent to punch into the computer every fare for the itinerary you want within a range of dates. Ask for the cheapest fares first. If you're flexible, you may be able to cut ticket costs drastically.

- But tickets after midnight on Tuesday in the time zone where the airline is located. Typically, airlines start fare sales late Friday, and competing airlines match the lower fares. All the matching usually stops by Monday. Airlines usually give customers who book low fares 24 hours in which to buy them. All the low fares that were booked on Monday but not purchased by midnight Tuesday come back into the airline's computer at that moment.
