The Dunas Douradas is on the Algarve, which is a popular holiday destination all year round. Visitors from the UK and all over Europe consider the Algarve to be one of the most desirable holiday locations. The Algarve is the name for a vast stretch of pristine beaches ranging from Faro to just beyond Cape St Vincent. If you fancy staying more on dry land, the region is surrounded with stunning countryside offering all levels of walking and hiking challenges, from gentle rambles to more taxing hikes. There are many natural reservoirs nearby offering a great sense of tranquillity. There are also many pine forests that you can explore.
Fig trees grow in abundance in some parts of the region, and play an important part in local cuisine. If you like figs then you will find plenty of examples of their use in regional dishes. Being in the south of the country, the food in this region wasn't so heavily influenced by the Moors but retained a more traditional Portuguese flavour. Often the food here is mistakenly compared to Spanish cuisine but the two are very different. Fish is clearly very important to the area and there are many seafood dishes to sample. A typical example is Bacalhau, which is a traditional salted cod that is said to be used in over 365 recipes - a taste extravaganza all year round!
The area is fairly cheap if you compare it to the rest of Europe. Even though Portugal has embraced the Euro, it remains cheaper in general than Spain. This means that local goods are more affordable and represent good value for money. It also means that properties for sale in Dunas Douradas can be cheaper than those to be found elsewhere in Europe. Flights to the area are also really cheap meaning that returning to the UK shouldn't cost too much. A return flight to Faro can cost from as little as ?60 from the UK.
L.J. Hooker, an Australian real estate consultant major with a significant presence in South East Asia through 700-odd franchisees, is getting set to foray into India’s red hot realty market, opening its account here with its first franchisee in Bangalore, followed by Mumbai.
The entry comes at a time when increasing participation of foreign investors and multi-national occupiers is driving the demand for expert-advice in the domestic real estate industry. Further, developers, lenders and investors have also been demanding better transparency in effecting transactions.
“We’ve been looking at the Indian market for a while now. But, we believe this is the right time for a branded player like us to enter, because we’re catering to a sophisticated Indian population," announced Ramneek Bakshi, Principal, L.J. Hooker India.
The basket of services offered by the company, apart from consultancy, includes a rent-management scheme. “Apart from finding a tenant for vacant commercial / residential space, we undertake property management activities like collecting rent on behalf of a landlord, paying taxes for him, renewing leases, carrying out maintenance work on the property among others," adds Mr. Bakshi.
Of course, Hooker plans to charge a small fee, usually about 2% of the fixed monthly rent. It will also, periodically review the client’s real estate holdings and advise him on future real estate investment, which is essentially telling the client when to buy or sell, and where to do the same as part of its portfolio management activities.
