by Bart R, Bar
Once someone knows just what foods it is that are actually making their acid reflux worse they can then either choose to reduce the amount of that particular food that they eat, or eliminate it altogether. In this article we offer some tips that should help you to avoid those foods, which can aggravate the symptoms associated with this particular stomach condition.

1. If you have been recently diagnosed with suffering from acid reflux then you should start to reduce the amount of fatty foods that you eat or eliminate them from your diet altogether. Although hamburgers and hotdogs taste great they are foods, which can actually irritate your stomach and increase, the chances of an acid reflux attack occurring.

2. Next you need to know that there are certain vegetables that even though are supposed to be good for us when you have acid reflux can actually make the problem worse. The vegetables that you should be trying to reduce or eliminate from your diet are onions, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

3. If you can you should try to eliminate as much caffeine from your diet, so you may find that you need to cut back on the amount of coffee, tea or sodas that you are drinking. Unfortunately caffeine is a stimulant and helps to increase the amount of gastric acid that your stomach produces and this increase can then lead to you suffering an acid reflux attack. The best thing to do before you drink anything is check to see whether it contains caffeine or not by reading the label carefully.

4. It is also crucial that if you do suffer from acid reflux you reduce or eliminate foods from your diet that contain high amounts of acid in them. The most common types of foods one should be avoiding are oranges, lemons, grapefruit and cranberry juice. Also it is a good idea to start reducing your intake of alcohol as well, as again this will have high levels of acidity in it.

5. Also it is a good idea to either reduce or eliminate foods, which are considered to be spicy, such as chilli or curry based meals. Often by eliminating these foods completely from your diet will further help to treat and bring the acid reflux under control.

Above we have shown you just a few of the acid reflux food to avoid if you suffer from this particular stomach condition. Often just by making the necessary dietary changes a person will find that their condition is much more manageable and in some cases completely disappears.
