Finding the right products to sell on eBay can be a difficult task for beginners and this applies to more experience eBay seller as well. However, this problem can be overcome if you have your own unique product to sell. The good news is that, you can now literally create your own unique products yourself and profit from it.
To be successful in eBay, you will need to have a product that has no competition and in demand. In addition, no one else muse be able to sell your products as well. If you scout around your local flea market, wholesalers, drop shippers, your backyard etc., you will realized that there is nothing new under the sun that it is truly unique and have no competition. So where can you find your very own unique products then?
In another word, you do not sell what others people are selling. If you go to eBay and make a search for cameras, MP3, jewelry etc, you will be able to see a long list of items on sale. The competition is so great. For example, even if you win the bid, your profit margin might not be good enough. Therefore, your eBay business may not be viable.
So what are the unique products you can sell? These unique products are e-books, CDs, videos and mini-kits created by you. You might think that these are ordinary items where there are already thousands in the eBay listing. Well, the truth is, these are not the ordinary usual e-books and videos you might find at the local bookstore. These are all homemade informational "how to books and videos" that you can produce from your own computer and printer at home.
It is reported that homemade products can potentially sell up to $8,175.55 each month on eBay. The beauty of creating these products at home is that, you do not need to stock up physical items from the flea markets, garage sales, etc which is time consuming and need capital outlay. In the worst case, if you are unable to sell those physical items, you will need to absorb the capital cost and it takes up spaces as well.
Another problem with selling things from whole sellers is that, you either have too many competitors selling the same thing or people are trying to undercut you. If someone is just selling for fun and do not worry too much about the profit, they can really sell at a very low price.
So the best bet to profit from eBay is to sell your own unique products. The good is news is that, you can create it yourself and at a very low cost. Information is now readily to show you how this can be done. If you are serious in profiting from eBay, you should start to consider this option.
Why Research Inventory Items to Sell on eBay? One of the most common questions you hear from new eBay sellers is, "Where do I find items to sell"? That's probably something that would need another article to fully explore, but the reality of it is that you can find products to sell on eBay in lots of places. You can find inventory products at garage sales, local auctions, internet auctions, even your attic or basement. You can really even purchase merchandise on eBay to resell on eBay. The trouble is finding items that you can sell for a PROFIT on eBay, and the only way to do that is to know the price an item will sell for BEFORE you purchase it. Otherwise you'll most likely pay more than you should for inventory items and your potential profit will vanish. Factors to Consider when Researching Merchandise for eBay Now that you know why it's critical to research merchandise before you buy them, let's dive into product research in a little more detail. Two things are most critical: Sell Through Rate (STR%) and Average Sales Price (ASP). The Sell Through Rate is the percentage of products that were sold out of those that were listed. So if four products were listed and 2 sold, the STR is 50%. As a guideline, anything above 50% is a decent sell through rate. 60-70% is great, and if you find a item with an 80% or better STR, that's fabulous. But the STR is just part of the picture. You also need to know how much people are willing to pay for an item. If it has a really high STR, but you can't buy it for less than it sells for, you need to move on to your next potential product. Average Sales Price (ASP) is precisely what it sounds like. For a certain time period it's how much a particular item has sold for, on average. How to Find the ASP and STR% On eBay, using the advanced search feature looking at completed listings, it's a manual effort to get the ASP. You basically have to search through a list and either copy down the numbers or do them in your head. The last time I looked at the completed listings on eBay it only showed the last 15 days, which is not long enough when you're trying to sell a one of a kind item. The best tool I have been able to find to do product research is a web service called Terapeak. With Terapeak, you can enter the name of a product and almost instantaneously it will present the number of eBay matching listings for your item. You can review any number of days from 7 days up to 90 days, which is really great for unusual products. It also presents to you the Average Sales Price and Sell Through Rate. You can remove listings that are different from what you're looking for. And you can also learn the listings on eBay that were shown in the search results, their start price, listing strategies, extra listing features, and more. There are many more features to Terapeak than can be described in this short article. I can honestly say that the Terapeak service has saved me hundreds of dollars by telling me how much I could pay for products. It's also made me hundreds of dollars by showing me the maximum price I should get for products I'm selling. I went from doing eBay as a hobby to becoming a Powerseller in under six months after I started using Terapeak. If you really want to make money on eBay, you have got to try this service.
