[P794]Protein For Body Building
by Tony King, Ton
If you've been trying to gain muscle mass for long-term improvement in your appearance or bulk up for a specific event, you probably know that body building supplements can be a great help. The question is whether or not you can get everything you need from a source like protein bars or protein snacks.

While you can take all kinds of protein based body building supplements to help you gain weight, it can get to be a chore to chug down some of the liquid protein formulas that are whey or soy based. Although flavorings and thickeners make them quite flavorful these days, they aren't very convenient if you have a busy lifestyle. You need time to mix them up in a blender and drink them chilled for the best flavor.

Protein Bars are Convenient Alternative

Protein bars are a convenient way to get the high calorie and protein intake you need to bulk up. Many people prefer these to other body building supplements because they can be tossed into a gym bag, briefcase or purse and eaten as a snack any time day or night. They aren't simply empty calories, but scientifically balanced nutritional bars designed specifically to help you add muscle mass and gain energy.

Since you can just reach into your bag and eat one anywhere you are, you are more likely to eat one or two each day, which can add anywhere from 700-1,000 calories a day to your diet. This translates into one or two pounds a week - pretty impressive if you're working out to make sure it becomes lean muscle mass!

How to Select the Right Protein Bars as Body Building Supplements

Be sure when looking for protein bars that you check the labels, though, because some bars have the opposite effect of what you are looking for (think of the Atkins' protein bars, which are low calorie, no carb and designed to help you lose weight by stimulating your metabolism).

Protein bars that you will use as body building supplements should be high in calories (at least 350, with 400-500 calories being an excellent choice) with a balance of carbohydrates, proteins and fat. The carbohydrates are essential as fuel for your body building workouts, while fat and proteins help you gain weight and muscle mass. If you purchase your protein bars from well known body building supplement suppliers like Beverly International, you'll be sure you're getting a high quality product.

The best protein bars will also contain added vitamins, minerals and amino acids to aid you in your workouts by feeding your muscles the nutrients they crave for better function. There are several excellent brands that provide the right balance of nutrition, calories and protein as well as great taste, including Costas Muscle Sandwich Bars, MHP Up Your Mass Bars and Extreme XXL bars. All of these are body building supplements that can be used as part of your complete body building workout and, if eaten every day, should be enough to show you results within several weeks. With a variety of flavors to choose from, you won't get tired of them before you're buff and ready to show off.

Many people who are big into body building get interested in entering body building contests to show off their physiques. These are great places to build confidence and motivate you to continue with your body building program. When you decide to start competing in body building contests, there are some things you should know first.

To begin with, attend a few contests before you enter one. Watch how the participants put together their program and what the winners do that the others don't. See how they carry themselves and what poses they use to accent their muscles. Take notes and, if you get the chance, ask questions from those in the know.

You'll need to plan well ahead of time before competing yourself, so start early ? as much as six months to a year! There's a lot to consider and a lot of work to do before you go on stage.

Take a look at your body and find the muscles that aren't as toned as you'd like them to be. A body building contest is all about perfect bodies ? or at least as perfect as you can get them. Just because you've lost a bunch of weight doesn't mean you should be competing. You need strong muscles with well-defined tone in order to win.

Pick some music that will get the crowd excited. Your routine will be your calling card and will determine whether or not you have a strong performance. Your music should contribute to how you pose and what you focus on when in front of the judges.

Your attire is important as well. The purpose of body building contests is to show off well-toned muscles, so you should show as much skin as possible, but do so in a tasteful way. Swim suits are the best choice ? Speedos for men and bikinis for women. You'll want a comfortable fit so that you can move about easily and show all of your hard work.

When you have put together a posing routine, have someone video tape it for you and then watch it with a critical eye. Have someone else watch it as well and point out the things you are doing right as well as the things you are doing wrong. You can then work on the areas that need to be strengthened prior to the contest.

You need to pay special attention to your diet and workout routine. It is very important that you maintain the pace that got you here in the first place. Before entering body building contests is no time to slack off. You'll need to be diligent, but the effort will pay off.

There are many, many body building contests that you can enter when you've reached the point where you want to start competing. Local as well as national competitions can be very grueling, so know what you are up for. Body building contests are great places to show off what you've worked hard for ? a ripped, toned body. Good luck!
