Tied Up In NeckTie Knots?
by Brian Retief, Bri
A quick search on Google recently revealed that the most searched for key word phrase in the world of ties is the phrase How To Tie a Tie in fact was used as many as 35,000 times just last month.

The necktie is designed to enhance the wearer’s presentation, imbue an air of confidence and professionalism, but how often do you see the complete opposite with skew untidy knots, the wide end too short sitting half way up the wearer’s chest or equally ridiculous too long hanging below his bet buckle.

Tying a tie can seem like magic at first, but it is really like riding a bicycle once you learn how to tie a tie, you'll never forget.

However, often asking for help is not easy and can leave some men feeling emasculated and trying to avoid wearing a tie at any cost, but there always seems to be a Men’s Fashion occasion needing a tie, a wedding, a job promotion or job interview where we know that the "looks count."

The bottom line is that "Dressing for success" means learning how to tie a tie.

There are many resources available online to teach you how to tie the perfect necktie knot however many of them I have found to be difficult to understand and the instructions a nightmare to follow.

If you like me you will find the videos by far the best resource available as they are just so easy to follow, fun and about as easy as coloring by numbers. One really good free video featuring The Full Windsor Knot arguably the world most popular knot can be found on http:// www.classico.com.au/cmspage.php'id=11 .

This video not only shows how to tie the knot it also give tips on how to set up the tie so that it’s the right length when you knot it and what is the correct length when its finished.

There are a number of resources on the net for the other three popular knots such as the Half Windsor, The Four in Hand and the Pratt.

Which knot you choose will have a lot to do with personal preference and the type of shirt collar your shirt has, for example a button down usually best suits a narrow knot like the Four in hand or Pratt Knot, while the wide and cutaway collar suits the Full Windsor. The half Windsor is popular with a standard color.

There is no doubt that knowing how to tie a tie properly gives you confidence and improves your overall appearance and project a successful, professional appearance playing a role in getting you the new job, look really cool at the prom and on your wedding day.

Thousands of others already have learned how to tie a tie, and so can you.
