Gender Rights At Workplace

However, there are still open questions regarding women’s positions at workplace especially when career promotion is discussed. Women without an education will strive approximately one hundred percent higher to achieve recognition, success, promotion and achievement in the workplace. It is proven that women with education are hired at an increased starting rate in positions. They are also given more consideration than other candidates who may have more employment experience.

After 9/11 many jobs were eliminated due to either companies seeking to employ international candidates, outsourcing, temporary agencies or moving their company to a more profitable country. This meant that in addition to the recent college graduates, there were many others looking for work as well. The unemployment rate grew alarmingly fast and included people who were let go from their jobs, which were mainly baby boomers. In my opinion, this situation integrated applicants to a status of book smarts or college graduates, versus street smarts or experienced employees.

Although both characterists may be very attractive, it meant for a stricter criteria when hiring for applicants. Less jobs meant that companies were now seeking the best of the best. They knew that there were more people ever looking for jobs so they were able to increase their expectations as well as reduce the amount of pay that they were offering for a starting wage due to competition. Women of many fields were faced with this dilemma.

Prior to this change in our country, the ceiling for women was a long way up and once hit became unattainable to move forward.
