NDS Card Basics - Understanding Your NDS Cards
by Ra, Ra
Understanding your NDS Cards is as important as protecting it. How can you use it properly if you are clueless on how it actually works? If you want to use the full potential of this little device then you will be interested to know the basics that enabled this small piece of chip configuration to store memory and become the sole base of Nintendo's mobile console gaming.

NDS stands for Nintendo DS, its cards or flash memory chips are what we call NDS cards. NDS cards work precisely like other game cards. They are used to store saved game data and other compatible file formats. In the case of Nintendo DS Cards, they store save games and files on a ROM format or read-only-memory format. This means that NDS Cards can only be used to pull down and use files, and not to write unto it. This is different with other memory cards like special flash drives where some of them are write enabled.

There is also a special option for Nintendo DS cards where they can be used to transfer files and other content thru SD ports.

Different modern Nintendo DS cards have different capacities. While some cards can store one or two games, upcoming cards can store more.

Brand name also matters. There are some brands that Nintendo allowed to manufacturer compatible cards with their game console. It only means that not everyone can produce their own NDS card. Certain quality standards must be met first before companies and manufacturers can at least be considered for the approval.

If you are a Nintendo fanatic and you are looking for an NDS card, you will stay away from bonus, fake and cheap memory cards as this may ruin your data in time. There are even times that fake cards cannot store memory at all. And if worse comes to worst, your data might get corrupted, leaving your empty handed. You don't want to lose those hard earned game states and gave saves, do you?

Nintendo DS cards work because of a unique technology that allows it to save digital data under certain conditions. If you want for your card to work properly along with the device, or if you want its stored memory to stay and not get corrupted, you will not expose your card into harmful environments as stated in the caring instructions at the back of your card's box. You need to check these instructions, preferably the moment you plan to purchase the card.

The wonder of Nintendo DS card may be outside your understanding, but it doesn't mean that you should step aside and not try to understand, at least its basics. Understanding things is the key to everything.
