London has been chosen as the host of the 2012 olympics.

In 1863, bad traffic congestion on roads in london led to the construction of the world's first metro system, the underground.

The city was bombed badly within world war 2 & plenty people were killed. after the war, plenty buildings in the city had to be built again.

After the second world war, immigration transformed London into one of the most racially & culturally diverse cities in Europe. Immigration was not always smooth, as there were massive race riots in notting hill & brixton, but intergration was certainly more smith than in other british regions.

London is renowned for its snazzy museums & galleries. One of the most well known museums is the v&a, which was constructed in 1852. its the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design with a permanent exhibition of over 4 and a half million objects. nowadays, the museum covers a big 12 1/2 acres & 145 galleries. its a big tourist attraction &, in 2006, it attracted 2,400,000 visitors.

London is renowned for its shopping, so you'll find everything from unusual independent shops and markets, to designer shops.

One of the city's most renowned shops is Selfridges, which is situated on Oxford st. It was first opened in 1909 by Harry Selfridge, who wanted to make shopping lively rather than just a chore. He succeeded & the store now has four other branches in various cities throughout england.

London boasts exciting fashion, which we're sure that everyone will find breathtaking. From exciting shopping centres, to exclusive clubs & wine bars, there's something for everyone in London.

One of the most well-known clubs is the Embassy, which is a members club on Old Burlington street. The club is relatively pricey, but its full of celebrities & exciting for star spotting. as well as this, it serves exciting food by michelin starred Garry Hollihead.
