[C677]Chronic Yeast Infections Causes
by Michel De Silva, Mic

This should of course be done with much forethought and awareness as some ingredients present in the home remedies can react adversely with each other. The same applies for prescription medications and home remedies which are used in conjunction with each other. Not all ingredients can live happily side by side.

In these cases where a person might be thinking about mixing remedies to cure cases of normal or chronic yeast infections, a medical practitioner should first be consulted. And a log of the different types of remedies kept, as this can help in the event that the person suffers from an adverse reaction to any of the medications.

Chronic yeast infections though, occur for many reasons. One of these being that the person might have a weakened immune system due to any number of reasons. If however, there are chronic yeast infections present, immediate medical attention should be sought out to rule out the possibility of HIV/ AIDS in the person.

Chronic yeast infections are common in people suffering from this immune weakening condition, although the converse isn’t true. It’s not a fact that just because the person suffers from chronic yeast infections that they have HIV/ AIDS.

Chronic yeast infections can also come about as the result of the use, and sometimes overuse, of antibiotics. Since antibiotics were designed to fight off bad bacteria, it should then come as no surprise that some of the good bacteria also gets zapped in the process.

When this happens the natural balance of the body falls and the yeast producing bacteria are allowed to thrive. That’s why many people take preventative measures such as eating a lot of yogurt or including garlic in their diets, at the same time they are taking their course of antibiotics.

Another factor for chronic yeast infections lies in stress, and the wrong diet. Stress is a great inhibitor and imbalancer of the normal bodily functionings even though people might not be aware of this. And when this is coupled with a steady diet consisting of all the "wrong" foods, conditions for chronic yeast infections to occur are ripe.

The use of douches and scented feminine hygiene products and sprays which can cause an imbalance in the vaginal environment, can also lead to chronic yeast infections occurring.

The only way to truly prevent chronic yeast infections is to take full stock of your lifestyle and to duly change it to reflect a healthier less stressful one, where infections are least likely to occur.

Naturally occurring Candida exist in excess of 100 species, but only a quarter of them are recognized as causing human yeast infection. The most common strain is Candida albicans, and then Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, and Candida parapsilosis. The yeast infection rates are: Candida albicans - about four out of five; yeast Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, and other kinds of fungi - one out of five.

Yeast microbes are typically to be found in many healthy people. They live in the moisture and the warmth of areas such as the vagina, the mouth, the bowels and the rectum. Yeast microbes are held in check by probiotics, favorable microorganisms, and have few negative effects in the healthy individual. Nevertheless, when infection sets in, they multiply fast.

Yeast infection (candidiasis) may be the result of abnormal concentration of yeast microbes, above all in moist and warm areas of the surface of the body. The process can be accelerated by certain conditions out of the ordinary. It is the subtype of the yeast infection that typically determines these conditions. For example: pregnancy, contraceptive pills, antibiotics or hormone replacement therapy may quicken vaginal candidiasis, whereas neglect of personal hygiene can trigger male yeast infection. However, weakness in immunity systems can be a general cause of recurrent yeast infection due to any subtype. Further to this, stress or an excess of weight can also drive up the chance of candidiasis.

The data below relate to yeast infections:

1. 75% of women suffer a vaginal Candida infection, the kind the most often observed, at least once in their life. Recurring or long duration candidiasis impact as many as two out of five women. 2. Research indicates, it is the age group of 21-30 that is most menaced by chronic yeast infection, and then the age group of 11-20. 3. Stress, whether physical or emotional, can interfere with your immune system and make you vulnerable to colds and herpes. This can result in yeast cultivation as well. 4. With the yeast microbe being active mostly in conditions of warmth and moisture, hot weather favors breakouts of chronic yeast infection. 5. Yeast infections can also be the result of eating particular foods such as yeast foods, dairy products (a load on the digestion, pumped full of lactose and chemicals for hormone growth as well as mucus-favoring) refined carbohydrates, candy, and wines (glucose-intensive). 6. From studies in the 1990s at New York's Long Island Jewish Medical Center, it was observed that women eating a cup of yogurt on a daily basis during half a year reduced by two-thirds the onset of chronic candidiasis. The theory however needed further data as only 13 women finished the research project. Other research indicates the eating of live strains of lactobacillus acidophilus in supplement form or in yogurt form to help to prevent yeast infections. 7. Yeast infections can affect not only people but dogs as well. For dogs suffering from different varieties of skin disease, the common link appears to be yeast.

The highest occurring subtypes of yeast infection are:

1. Vaginal Candida: attacking on the inside of the vulva or the vagina. This is the type of chronic infection found the most frequently. 2. Oral thrush: it develops in the oral cavity and mostly in people with very feeble immune systems, including babies. 3. Nappy rash: rashes around the diaper area can be caused by this. 4. Candida balanitis: causes a rash on the head of the penis. 5. Paronychia (infections of the underlying tissue of the nail): appearing typically next to the fingernail. 6. For each yeast infection, each subtype is of a different kind. Other Candida infections can break out just about anywhere in the body, typically in skin folds: under the arms or the breasts, in between toes and so forth.

In certain instances, yeast infections can attack other parts of the body. This may be indicative of serious imbalance internally of the body. However usually, yeast infections are without lasting consequence, easily remedied and do not lead to serious health conditions. In many cases, yeast infections will disappear after a time without requiring medication.

Chronic yeast infections may be just a symptom of more serious problems, including diseases with similar symptoms that are transmitted sexually, leukemia, diabetes and AIDS, just to give a few examples. This explains why the manifestation of candidiasis symptoms needs professional advice with a qualified doctor.

Although chronic yeast infections can be treated domestically using over the counter medication or a prescription, remember that practically all such infections are an alarm signal of a serious internal malfunction that should be correctly handled. As excessive growth of Candida is at the bottom of almost all Candida infections, failing to resolve the internal problem that is causing the symptom of discharge, rash or other related to Candida, will not prevent the recurrence of these symptoms after a while. More than this, failure to treat the internal problems causing symptoms related to candidiasis could also cause grave health complications.
