As fall heads toward winter and thoughts turn toward Christmas, of course, the Christmas tree becomes a focus of household decor. (That is, after all, where the presents go!) An after you have taken the time and spent the money to get the perfect Christmas tree, your next job is to decide what you want to do about your Christmas tree decorations.
It might seem obvious, but like any home decorating project, a well-done Christmas tree requires a theme. For example, if you want your Christmas tree to have a Victorian look, then you should consider getting antique-style glass ornaments as your Christmas tree decorations. And since Christmas in contemporary society is largely about kids, if you have children, or even if you don't and you're just a kid at heart, you might enjoy a tree with a children's toy theme. Toy Christmas tree decorations can be a lot of fun to buy, and to display. You'll probably want to start shopping far in advance, so you have time to plan your theme and get the items you really want.
For example, say that you liked to play with Barbie dolls when you were a child -- the Christmas tree decorations that you choose could have a Barbie theme! This might strike you as a bit weird, but weird can be cool, and remember, the Barbie theme is just an example -- you are limited only by your imagination. Any theme at all can be fun and unique if it fits your personality and lifestyle. If you do go with the Barbie theme, then your color scheme might well be based on the, shall we say, non-traditional color of pink. And if your theme is based on pink, and you do not actually have a tree yet, then why not go all the way, be extra unique and get a white tree (either fake or flocked), or that old contemporary of the Barbie doll, the silver (aluminum) tree -– this will pick up the pink from the rest of the decorations quite well.
Once you have your theme, you might even want to make your own decorations. You could, just for an example, go to a craft store, and get a lot different styles of pink beads, and with white thread (if you do not already have it at home). Thread the beads in interesting combinations and make your very own, personal Christmas tree decorations (guaranteed unique)!
For more ideas for your Barbie tree (or any other theme you might come up with), do a quick search on the internet. There are lots of [insert your theme here] enthusiasts that have websites full of ideas. You can also search for Christmas tree decorations based on any theme you can dream up on the Internet's many auction sites and close-out sites. With a bit of planning, and a lot of creativity, you will surely create a beautiful one-of-a-kind themed Christmas tree that you will enjoy this year, and for many years to come.
