Christmas At Universal Orlando 2008
by Robert Thomson, Rob
With competition for the Christmas visitors being hotter than ever this year, the theme parks are pulling out all the stops to make "their park" the one you want to visit. You can be sure that the Christmas decorations will be out at all the parks and they'll be getting into the Christmas spirit just as we speak Universal Orlando are one of the top theme parks in Orlando, and have a Christmas line-up to match their status.

The grumpiest Christmas anti-hero returns again this year in the popular "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". The Grinch will be appearing in this show, which is split up into three parts (so the little-ones don't get too bored). The show can be viewed in the Seuss Landings part of Islands of Adventure. Believe you and me, the Grinch looks exactly like Jim Carrey in the movie. You also get the opportunity to meet the Grinch for that all important photo opportunity, but obviously you'll have to pay if you want to get your hands on the photo.

Popping over to Universal Studios, you can see the annual Macy's Christmas parade. This is held nightly down the Streets of New York and features huge balloons, floats, marching bands as well as Santa Claus himself. Every night there is also a tree-lighting ceremony that helps you get into the Christmas spirit.

Some existing shows will also get a Christmas make-over. For example the Barney show at Universal Studios will be re-badged as the "Barney Christmas Show". The Blues Brothers, who stalk the New York streets at Universal will also being doing a Christmas show, performing to favorites such as "Santa Claus is coming to town." You will also get to meet the park characters in the Kidzone for a special Christmas parade.

If you have the pleasure of partying in CityWalk this New Year, then there'll be plenty of live entertainment at the bars and restaurants. You can also see in the New Year with a concert from the '70s band, The Doobie Brothers.
