[C629]Choosing A Wedding Photographer
by Larry J. Reaves, Lar

Your wedding will be something that you will remember for a lifetime. You will want to have these precious memories in photographs. Finding the right wedding photographer is a very important step because you want to ensure that everything will be documented in photos. You definitely need to shop around because there are many places to choose from and prices vary greatly from place to place.

There are many questions you should ask a photographer. You will want to find out about their experience level. Find out if this person has photographed other weddings and also do they do this for a living are just a hobby. You want to know what type of photographs you will be wanting such as formal or candid and whether you want a mixture of black and white are only color photos. This way you can ask the photographer if they have experience taking these types of photos.

Another thing to be aware of is to make sure that the photographer that you're talking to is one that will be attending your wedding and they will not be sending someone else. Some people think this doesn't happen but usually a company will have more than one photographer. So you want to make sure that the person you met and liked is the one that will be taking your photos.

You also want to know about the price range and will the price fit into your budget. If the photographer charges a little bit more are they worth the price difference. Make sure you understand what everything costs so there are no hidden charges. Be sure all prices include reprints and albums. You also want to know how long it will take to get your proofs back. Also find out the time frame for your finished album any other specific photos you have requested.

Be sure you understand about any type of packages because sometimes the packages are fixed and sometimes you can customize them. Try to find out about how much time the photographer will spend doing the photographs. Also find out what happens if you need more time, be sure you know what the charge is for additional time and what the added cost would be.

Make sure you ask about any deposits or payments. You definitely want to find out what their cancellation or if the photographer doesn't show up policies are. You want to remember that when you do find the perfect photographer for your wedding that you should book them ahead of time; because the better ones are usually booked way into the future. So, time is of the essence.

One idea that is a fun way to make sure you have plenty of pictures of your wedding reception is to place some inexpensive disposable wedding cameras on your wedding reception tables. Your guests will have a great time taking candid wedding pictures for you. This is the way to make sure that you get candid photos of anything that's going on. This is especially nice because the photographer you hired can't always be in the perfect place at the perfect time.

Your best way to find the perfect wedding photographer is to get references from friends and coworkers. You can ask around and look at other wedding albums to see firsthand what the finished product looked like. You have to make sure that this is a person that you can trust to take pictures on one of the most important days of your life.

Whether you've been dreaming about a certain venue for awhile or you have no idea where to start in your

wedding venue search, there are some considerations.

Are you having a religious or civil ceremony?

If you have a church in mind that you plan to get married in, or you know that you want your ceremony will

take place in a church, it is a good idea that your reception venue be in the same area. Making sure you and

your guests are able to get from the ceremony to the reception easily is important.

If you don't plan on having a religious ceremony, you may have the option of holding your ceremony and

reception at the same venue. This cuts out the need for your guests to organize transportation when

travelling in between venues.

How big is your wedding?

The size of your wedding refers to the number of guests, the type of reception you plan on having and whether

you will feature a DJ or live music. Before you can search for a wedding venue, you should have a rough idea of how many guests you are inviting.

A formal sit down reception requires more room than on with a casual standing buffet and if you decide having

a live band play, they may require extra room to set up.

Choosing the type of wedding venue

There is a variety of wedding reception venues out there for every type of bride. Here is a list of popular

types:

Hotel

A hotel reception can be lavish and beautiful while at the same time being convenient. Out-of-town guests

don't need to find transportation to get back to their hotel because they can most likely book a room in the

same place that the reception is being held. Because hotel receptions are so popular, the staff will have had

a lot of previous experience in hosting a wedding.

Historical Buildings

Museums, galleries, castles and estates all offer a unique atmosphere for a wedding. Although they tend to be

more expensive than other wedding venue options, a beautiful castle or estate will give you and your guests a

unique experience.

Golf and Country Clubs

Clubs often offer experienced staff, a distinct look and most times also have great scenery for wedding

pictures. Doing research into different clubs in your area gives you a chance to find a venue perfect for

your big day.

Gardens

If you can find a large and lavish garden setting in your city, this could be a great venue for your wedding.

Renting a large marquise tent also allows you to bring your own catering and possibly alcohol which you can't

do with some venues that require you to use in-house staff.

Doing your research on all of the available venues in your area means you will be able to find the perfect wedding location that also fits with your style and budget.
