The journey from Sydney to Currans Hill is only about 45 to 50 minutes, a bit longer in traffic, but certainly a lot quicker than by public transport. The closest train station to Currans Hill is at Macarthur Square, but the main station is at Campbelltown. Buses run between both, and the area is peppered with taxis so there is no fear of not being able to get to or from Currans Hill if you dont have a car.
While at Macarthur Square why not spend the day shopping, or stopping for a coffee at one of the many cafes or restaurants to be found in and around this mammoth centre. Literally littered with outlets of all shapes and sizes, from the large discount retail chain stores to the trendy boutiques and fashion shops, Currans Hill will seem miles away as you wile away the hours wandering from floor to floor and store to store.
Just across the road from Currans Hill is the beautiful and spacious Mount Annan Botanical Gardens (the largest botanical gardens in Australia, found right here at Currans Hill!). As you drive in the gates of the garden, practically across the road from Currans Hill and through one roundabout (it really cant be any closer) youll find a great playground for the kids and a cafe restaurant. So, you can grab a coffee and watch while the littlies play out in the fresh air. Or, why not bring the family (entry is rather inexpensive) and a picnic lunch and all the bicycles the gardens are rich with riding trails that are well marked out and maintained so theres no fear of falling and injuring little arms or legs or little bikes for that matter.
Before you return to Currans Hill (why not ride across from your house?) make sure you stop to feed the ducks or watch a show during the holidays. And inspect the art work that is on display, many local artists showcase their sculptures in and around the gardens, and with 416 hectares youre not short of places to explore and new things to discover.
Also close to Currans Hill, in fact, just across the road again at Mount Annan, youll find a spectacular display of Christmas lights come December. Pack the kids into the family car and take a tour of the local area around Currans Hill, and see the efforts your neighbours go to in an attempt to drain the local electricity grid. A part of Mount Annan called the Cascades is one such special place, with lights and displays of every shape and colour festooning eaves and roofs in the festive season.
