As Hyundai of Tempe and the United Food Bank team up this December for the December Food Drive Hyundai of Tempe General Manager Mike Wasserman had this to say; "During the Holiday Season is important to help those who are in need of assistance, additionally is it is important to help those in need throughout the entire year. During the December Food Drive we hope to be able to raise enough food to aid those in need throughout the entire year!" Since 1983 the United Food Bank has existed to attend to the food needs of the people of the community. The mission of this non-profit organization is simple; to provide access to those who are in need to nutritious food and to create opportunity for those who wish to help to be able to help those in need. To satisfy this goal, the United Food Bank often calls upon the assistance of well established businesses within the community, such as Hyundai of Tempe to help promote the cause. As a proud sponsor of the United Food Banks December Food Drive, Hyundai of Tempe is encouraging residents of Arizona to donate food by offering special incentives. Those who donate four or more non-perishable items to the United Food Bank will be eligible to receive a variety of free services from Hyundai of Tempe, including a free vehicle inspection though the Pit-stop program. The Pit-stop programs offers tire pressure check, headlight and turn signal inspection, check and top off all fluids. In addition to the Pit-Stop inspection program Hyundai of Tempe is offering to those who donate 4 items to the December Food Drive, Hyundai of Tempe is also giving those who donate the opportunity to receive windshield repair, dent bust, paint touch-up and interior repair. Plus those who donate will be eligible for a drawing to win a complete auto detailing. This December, Hyundai of Tempe in partnership with the United Food Bank wants to make donating non-perishable food to the December Food drive as convenient as possible. Because of this, Hyundai of Tempe not only has established their dealership as a drop-off location, but has also placed collection boxes throughout the entire valley. Food donated to these boxes will be routinely collected and added to the United Food Bank. Hyundai of Tempe United Food Bank boxes will be available for donations at the Hyundai of Tempe dealership in the Tempe Autoplex located at 8050 South Autoplex Loop, Tempe and throughout the valley from the first of December to December 22. Donations can be dropped off from 7:30 am to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both Hyundai of Tempe and the United Food Bank are excited to offer Arizona residents the opportunity to donate to this very worthy cause. It was estimated that in 2005 about 824,008 Arizonans were living in poverty. In 2006, approximately 1,100 food banks across Arizona supplied the "first-line" of defense to combat the hunger of residents of Arizona, including children, adults and seniors. The United Food Bank along with business in the Valley like Hyundai of Tempe request that residents of Arizona work together to make sure that all those who are in need of food will always have a source for food. For the last 25 years there has been a steady increase in the number of emergency food packs distributed. In the 16 years from 1990 to 2006 there has been an increase of annual food distribution by 167%. Thanks to the efforts of the United Food Bank, similar food bank agencies and willing donators, the rising food needs have been satisfied. During the holidays the United Food Banks and Hyundai of Tempe ask that you help out this worthy cause to better ensure nobody goes hungry!
