Last week i saw something interesting that caught my attention. A group inside a social network was advertising that it could find you a poker date. Someone jokingly said this must for be all the guys out there that don't have time to get a regular date on their own. So, how do you suppose they do that?
Could you feel comfortable dating someone that just cleaned out your monthly budget in an online poker tournament? Or would you prefer a warm body that you just bankrupted in a recent cash game? Who knows, they may insist that dinners on you, lol.
And there in my head I try to imagine this dysfunctional pair that meet on a poker dating website. They get together as a couple, then sit at their home spending the whole night playing poker tournaments. Later they go to work at their full time jobs and talk to each other in instant messenger only. Rinse and repeat.
Still confused at how a poker date might change your fortunes and make your wallet heavier? Well, you are not alone. I mentioned this at a party once and got nothing from blank stares. Yeah, those uppity Hollywood types have no sense of humor. In short, If you are not the weakest player at the Pker table, can you make money? Maybe, but how do you find a poker date?
So, how do we find that elusive poker date? How about looking around in one of those gigantic commercial databases of poker players ( and their reckless plays, lol ). Ahhh, you say you didn't know this existed? Perhaps you are even, ... in there yourself? Groups such as tableratings.com and others have commercial databases that thru subscription one can get access to. And don't forget the "Buddy List". Most poker games have the capability of adding **friends** to the buddy list. Smart players dont add **friends**. They add other weak players. This is what you do with your buddy list, right?
Another interesting tool is Poker Tracker. It can gather hand histories that other tools can then display in an overlayered format directly over top poker players in a room. It can be confusing seeing all those numbers but its workable.
Have we boggled your mind yet? Who could have imagined that there could be so many ways **to date** someone else while playing poker? Are we then agreed that the savvy online player has access to significantly more potentially damaging information on great poker **dates** than the offline player?
