In the UK, ?the sales? is a period in the year when items in shops are sold at discounted prices.  The two most common periods are in January and June and it's at these times of the year when customers pile into to the shops trying to find the best saving they can.  There are other periods in the year when there are great savings to be had.  Some of the big departmental stores have a spring sale and these can be very popular.  Many other retailers also have sales throughout the year to keep customers interested in their shop and to keep them hungry for their produce too.  All that said the June sales are still by far the best time of year.

So why are the June sales still the best time of year?  They are the best time of year for a few reasons.  As previously discussed, there are sales right the way through the year.  However, the sales in June are during a period in the year when people like to go shopping.  People love hot weather and also love to walk around in it.  People also want to look good and therefore feel that they need new clothes in order to do this.  This means one thing.  People have to go shopping to buy new clothes in order to walk around in the hot weather and look and feel good. 

People also love to go on holidays during the summer months and trying to find deals for their summer holidays is also a reason why they go shopping. 

There are many different places consumers can go to when it comes to shopping.  Big shopping centres are a likely choice and there have been an increasing number in recent years to attract the extra numbers.  The new Westfield shopping centre in Shepherds Bush has recently opened and is now the biggest in London.  Other big shopping centres that have opened recently include Lakeside and Bluewater, both on the outskirts of London and both designed to absorb as many shoppers as possible who would have added to the footfall of other towns and villages.

The June Sales are a great time to go shopping.  There are many great savings to be had and if consumers shop around for long enough they will be able to take home many products that will keep them happy during the best time of year, summer.
