Samsung F300 – Both Sided Fun Affair
by Adam Caitlin, Ada

Meet the two faced beauty – the Samsung F300. The handset combines the power of a standard phone and a Mp3 player, to bring about a unique blend of conventional phone and music. And to achieve this purpose, the Samsung F300 comes with dual side screen. While one of the side performs the action of a phone, the other apes the iPod Nano.

And despite the addition of screens on both the side, the Samsung F300 comes in a good surprisingly slim package – true to Samsung's long standing reputation. Plus, the nicely rounded edge makes the phone more compact and sleek. The phone side of the handset is occupied by a small keypad and a smaller screen. Even though the keypad is of small size, it does not pose a problem while working on decent speed of typing. But yes, the smaller screen surely raises some eyebrows. For the screen is tall enough just to show some three lines. Which means its okay for reading small messages, but when you desire to browse web, you need to “switch" to other side, having larger screen – and this constant swapping of screens really becomes annoying at times. And this screen is not only larger, but also more brighter. Thus, colours come out more apt and so does the graphics. Underneath this, is a touch sensitive pad for navigating through the music menus.

Pictures, music and videos can be transferred between the phone and a PC via USB. And while when the users take advantage of the USB, the phone can actually operate in two modes - Media Transfer mode, where you can use Windows Media Player to sync tracks, and PC Studio mode. And lest you should not fancy the USB that much, you can always take advantage of the Bluetooth mode.

The phone is tri-band only and doesn't support 3G, so downloads are limited to GPRS or EDGE speeds. There is a 2MP camera, with the ability to take self portrait as well. Other features a pretty standard. It comes with loads of messaging services, PIM functions, good battery life and of course an ace music player.
