Many people write articles to increase traffic to their website. But those published articles are useful in another way, too. They can be used to generate additional income. As an added benefit, these articles can generate that income for as long as the article is available. In some cases, it can be a very long time. I have seen some articles that were published 2 years ago and are still getting page views today. That’s a very nice long-term annuity. Here are some techniques to help you start that income machine.

1) Create an extra revenue stream with your website's articles or content. After your articles are published, post them in your website and load them up with text based ads. Link some of the ads to your own products and some of them to affiliate products. I feature my best published articles along with a number of unpublished works in my site and have used as many as 12 ads in a one-page article. The text based ads have been very nice revenue producers.

2) Some ezine publishing sites will grant you Featured Expert status and provide you with the code to publicize it. Display your expert status prominently on your site, it will give you added credibility.

3) Put 5–10 of your best articles together into an ebook to sell. Make sure the articles are all closely related.

4) Put 2-3 articles together in a small viral ebook to give away with resell and reprint rights. Make sure you include ads for some of your own products as well as some affiliate products.
