Causes And Ayurvedic Cure For Sterility / Infertility
by Robert Baird Baird, Rob
Sterile means where there is no growth or 'barrenness' which, in relation to ladies, implies an inability to bear a child. The concerned woman is unable to conceive or when a male is incapable of impregnating her. But, the blame is laid at the door of a woman who is stili considered a soft option in our society. When a male is incapable to impregnate her, it is called impotency. Hence frigidity may be considered a symptom of sterility.

The causes are both psychic and organic and more so organic. If the woman is at fault, let her be examined for any organic defect or disease.

Causes:

Vitiation of Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Congenital deformities, such as clogging of mouth of the uterus which could be a congenital disorder.

Inflammation of uterus, chronic menstrual problems.

Displacement of uterus.

Malnutrition, anaemia, poor lining conditions or/and blood poisoning.

Apathy to sexual intercourse or performing coitus as an obligation and a ritual only, without taking any active interest.

Functional causes can be cured quite easily, organic defects often require surgical interference. 8 out of 10 cases yield to proper and timely treatment. Corrective measures should be initiated as soon as symptoms are recognised.

Treatment:

If some organic defect is the cause and when surgery is the only option left, then no medicine is called for. Try anyone of the following medicines.

Shilajit is a highly effective remedy which needs to be given twice daily with milk TSP each time with milk

Phala Ghrita - 2 TSP twice daily with milk.

Bala (sida Rhombifolia) is also a useful remedy, used internally and locally. Give a TSP of its oil with 150ml milk twice daily. Further, boil the root of plant in milk and oil and use (lukewarm) with water as a douche. If used orally and internally, it will remove defects in the mucus membrane of genital passage and, thus, facilitate union of sperm with the ovum.

If only the husband is at fault, there is no need to administer any medicine to the wife, instead it is the husband who needs treatment only proper examination can reveal which of the two needs treatments.
