Wrinkle Treatment - How They Are Formed And Removed
by Christopher Evans, Chr
For most people, wrinkles form part of everyday life. But when looking into wrinkle treatment, it is important that you understand how wrinkles are formed. For that we need to appreciate how our skin is structured. Although there are many layers to it everyone's skin can be generally divided into three main parts.

* The outermost layer everyone can see, called the epidermis - this contains skin cells, pigment, and proteins.

* The middle layer, called the dermis - this contains blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and oil glands

* The innermost layer, called the subcutaneous layer - This contains sweat glands, some hair follicles, blood vessels, and fat.

Each layer of the skin contains connective tissue with collagen fibres to give support and elastin fibres to provide flexibility and strength.

Wrinkle Formation

Younger skin tends not to show wrinkles as it does an excellent job of stretching and holding in moisture. The elastin in it keeps it looking and feeling young, along with the collagen protein in the dermis which also assists in preventing wrinkles.

However, over time, the dermis loses both its collagen and elastin, so the skin gets thinner and has trouble getting enough moisture to the epidermis. In addition, the fat in the subcutaneous layer that gives skin a plump appearance also begins to disappear. Overall, this affects the epidermis layer causing it to begin sagging and forming wrinkles.

These alterations in the connective tissues reduce both the elasticity and strength. This is known as elastosis and is most prominent in sun-exposed areas and also with individuals who are smokers. Wrinkles and

Aging

There isn't a specific age when people suddenly get wrinkles: Even young people in their 20s begin forming wrinkles, particularly around their eyes (called "crow's feet") from squinting or spending too much time in the sun.

Some more fortunate people may well be in their 50s or 60s before they begin to form their first lines. This is largely because good care has been taken of their skin. However it is also largely dependant on genes. However it happens to all of us eventually as a natural part of the aging process.

Wrinkle Treatment and Anti Aging

There is a plethora of different wrinkle treatments and anti aging products on the market. These vary considerably in both effectiveness and cost. When considering alternative treatments, it is always important to consider just what the cost benefits of each are. Do you really need to spend so much money on surgery when there are cheaper alternatives available? Do you really need to use those chemicals when there may be more natural ways of dealing with the problem?

Remember that just because one method is more expensive, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is more effective. Everyone's skin is differs and the results may alter between individuals.

New solutions to the problem are being developed constantly. It is well worth taking the time out to see what options there are and taking the time out to consider what the best option for your personal circumstances.
