Interesting And Unique Teapots
by Gen Wright, Gen
Drinking tea has always been a favorite past time of many Asian people. There are many health benefits associated with drinking tea. Those who drink tea on a regular basis are known to enjoy better health, and they also tend to live longer. Perhaps it's the tea itself, or perhaps it's the culture and habit of drinking tea that is responsible for longevity. But that is not what is important. What is important is that we all know tea drinking works! It helps to detox the body, and the overall health of a tea drinking individual improves.

What is so interesting about this age old habit is that a wide variety of teapots have been created. They come in many different shapes and sizes. And when you examine them closely, you will find them to be an accurate reflection of various Asian cultures.

Most Asian teapots are rather small, and can be lifted up with just two fingers. The cups are really tiny, when compared to Western cups. You can only fill a mouthful of tea in each cup. That is because many Asians like to spend time enjoying their tea. In other words, the way to consume Chinese tea is to sip instead of gulp. Therefore, it is not necessary for teacups or teapots to be huge. A single pot of tea can last for as long as a couple of hours.

And because tea drinking sessions can take such a long time, the teapots often rest on a tiny flame. The flame keeps the tea warm in the pot while the tea drinking sessions progresses.

Examples of some interesting teapots.

Buddhist Sutra Teapot - The shape of this teapot looks just like any ordinary teapot. The shoulders are rather broad, and it comes with a small lid. The main difference is that there are buddhist scriptures inscribed on the shoulders of the pot. These letters form a poem, and the letters are golden.

Wind Teapot - The wind teapot appears rounder when compared to other commonly seen teapots. There are wavy lines along the shoulders of the teapot, and these signify the wind. The teapot is lovely to look at, and is most ideal for the outdoors. For example, drinking tea from a wind teapot in a garden on an idle afternoon sounds like the perfect idea for many Asians.

Alhambra Blue Teapot - This teapot is very unique shaped. Instead of being round, it is actually rectangular in shape. It is blue in color, and its body consists of geometric shapes. These shapes come together to form a beautiful pattern.

There are many other types of teapots that the Asians like to use. Mostly, the differ in shape, size and designs based on the imagination of the artists. Designs are often based on objects and elements from nature or other mystical creatures from the East.
