Do-It-Yourself Tips For Your Glued Wet Carpet
by Gayelord Nash, Gay
This article aims at answering the last question. Yes, you can try and restore your carpet and we provide you with a few do-it-yourself tips to do the same.

1. Remove all the furniture from the wet carpet. The soaked carpet will only damage your furniture. Also the washing, drying and cleaning will be much easier to do once the furniture is out of the way.

1. Examine your glued wet carpet. Since it is glued, you can surely not take it outdoors for washing, drying and cleaning. So begin with the washing indoors only. However, do not do this step if you do not have a working drain. Use a garden hose to wash your wet carpet. Begin at the end of the carpet which is farthest from the drain and use a sweeping motion to wash off all the unclean water and mud from the carpet.

3. Once all the unclean water and mud have been washed away from the wet carpet into the drain, begin with the drying. Use a wet-and-dry vacuum for sucking up the excess water from the glued wet carpet.

4. If you find water stains on your glued wet carpet, you can mix 1/2 cup of liquid chlorine in a gallon of water and use the solution to bleach the carpet. However, do not use bleach, if your carpet is made of wool. While the carpet is still wet, pour the chlorine solution, one section at a time. Rub it with a soft brush. Wait for 5 minutes. Then rinse the section with water. Treat and rinse the whole wet carpet in similar manner.

5. Using a wet-and dry vacuum, suck up the excess water which is left after the bleaching and rinsing process.

6. Switch on all the fans in the room. They will help in circulating the air. Switch on the air conditioner. If you have a dehumidifier, switch it on to reduce the humidity in the room.

7. If possible allow some fresh air inside by opening all the windows and doors. However, if the humidity is high outdoors, keep them closed because high humidity and moisture will delay the drying process.

8. Keep the light on. The heat produced by the lights will help in speeding up the drying process and will also prevent the growth of mold and mildew on the damp carpet.

It is very important that you begin the process of drying your glued wet carpet immediately. If the carpet is allowed to be soaked in water for a long time, it will lead to the growth of mold and mildew. Slow drying will also lead to the growth of mildew. It will also lead to your carpet having a sour smell. So make sure that the carpet gets dried as soon as possible.

These tips can go a long way in helping you restore your glued wet carpet. However, if your efforts are unsuccessful, you should hire a professional at the earliest possible.
