Line Drying Vs. The Dryer
by Aydan Corkern, Ayd
Lots of people like to dry their clothes outside because it saves them electricity, and it does not make their home hot. When you hang your clothes on the line it dries them faster than when it does in the dryer. Plus it keeps your home moisture free. It is good to air dry your clothes because when you use a dryer, it is hard on your clothes and you have to keep on paying more to replace the ones that are getting bad. If you put them on the line they will last a lot longer and will stay in good condition.

They are not as wrinkly as if they were in the dryer. In a dryer your clothes can take two or three times longer to dry, but it depends on the dry cycle, and how old the machine is. Your clothes and its buttons, if any, will be very hot. There can also be a lot of lint in them, and it comes from the fibers in the cloth that is getting stripped from the clothes. This lint can get everywhere in your house and into the air that you breathe. Dryers can even shrink your clothes and make them tighter to where you can't fit into them anymore.

Did you know that a dryer can cause mold and can warp your walls? Whether your walls are wood or brick or of another material, it will still get it on there and you will see water spots because of the moisture from it. You can have lint all over your walls even if you have a hose that leads outside. Back in the day they put their clothes out on the line because they did not have one or they did not want to use a dryer. Now we use dryers all of the time. We need to go back to the way we used to do it because it is better for our clothes and much healthier for us.

When you hang your clothes outside you get a beautiful smell from the air. If you do not have a clothesline all you have to do is take a rope or a cord and tie it to two trees or two poles that you can stick into the ground. You have to make sure it is high enough so your clothes will not touch the ground. This is the healthiest way to do it, and it will not damage your clothes.
