How Document Drying Works
by Byron Zoucks, Byr
At first, I was not interested in this type of stuff but that was until my documents, pictures and other memorable stuff went through a flood and suffered enormous flood damage. The moment my stuff got wet is the moment I started to learn about document drying. The method of document drying that I chose was freeze-drying simply because it comes off as very effective. When a document drying professional told me about its cost, I would have said no if he had not shown how the process can restore my well-loved documents.

First off, to fully grasp an understanding of freeze drying, you will need to know what it is. When document drying using freeze-drying, you will need to freeze the document. The basic idea of freeze drying is to completely remove the water from the material, such as books or important documents. While you are removing the water from the material, you will be leaving the composition and document structure of the materials intact. When you first discover your documents are ruined by the water you should freeze them. If you freeze the documents, you will be eliminating the process of mold. Mold is not able to form on something that is frozen.

When you are document drying, the main principle in freeze-drying is called sublimation. This means you will want to take a solid and shift it directly into gas This process of document drying is a lot like evaporation. Sublimation will come about when a molecule gets up enough energy so that it can break free from those other molecules that are around it. The water will then go from a solid which is ice, into gas, which is vapor. When using this method of document drying you will need to pay close attention to the temperature and pressure. Both the temperature and pressure need to be within a certain range. If these two are not within a certain range, the phase of the substance will not be able to exist.

As I have stated before, I did not know about the document drying process until I had to go through it. Ever since I had t put my documents and books through the document drying process I have been reading about the process of document drying. When you do not know about something, it does not hurt to read about it. Sure, you may never have to go through document drying in your life but when and if you have to go through document drying in your life, you will be glad you read about it.

When you are doing the document drying process, we highly recommend you looking towards professionals to do the freeze-drying method for you. When your important documents, books and photos are at stake you should always leave it to professionals.
