How To Fight The Battle Against Hypertension
by Jim Brown, Jim
It is never an easy task to battle hypertension. It is a traitor disease that one should muster all courage to fight and live a long life, after all no one can effectively fight it except yourself. Aside from taking regular medications, there are also non-medical ways to deal with hypertension. Some are preventive and some to control. But nonetheless, the bottom line is the same.

Studies have shown that eating garlic could lower down blood pressure. Taking garlic can protect the heart. Garlic can act to maintain the blood vessel elasticity. As we grow old, our blood vessels' elasticity decreases and this is where taking garlic comes into play. It is amazing to think that garlic which is usually used as spice in foods can be utilized to fight hypertension. Although honestly I have not seen any exact dosage per day that you should take to make it effective, I still think it is the most helpful medication that is not so expensive at all.

It also has been said that having pets can help decrease blood pressure. After a long day's work, pet owners in the company of their pets would have less tension compared to those who are not pet owners. Lesser tension would mean lesser load to the heart therefore preventing pressure to build up. Aside from lowering blood pressure, owning pets can have various health benefits however those should be tackled in another section. But of course, one should not forget that pet's can also cause allergies and if you are allergic to them, then it might cause more complication than benefits. That is just a word of caution. Otherwise, having pets would have some advantages and could really lower blood pressure. This has already been studied and conclusions would confirm pets really help a lot in lowering blood pressure.

At one point or another, one should always remember to take heed of the diet. Eating can be very rewarding unless you take in those that can cause high blood pressure. Eating right does not only prove beneficial to blood pressure but it can also prevent other major health issues as well. Eating fatty foods on the other hand will lead to the increase in your bad cholesterol which will eventually lead to a rise in blood pressure because of the build-up of cholesterol on the walls of blood vessels disrupting the flow of blood.

Avoid getting angry as much as possible. Being angry will cause an increase in heart beat. An increase in heart beat means that the heart is having an extra work load. Anxiety and tension could also produce the same result. When more workload for the heart, the blood is not properly distributed because of fast heart beat and also because of this that pressure will build up to the immediate major vessels transporting the blood therefore would cause hypertension. This is the reason why as much as possible you need to control your feelings.

Along with your medications and a daily dose of the tips above, you are on your way to a happy journey even with hypertension hanging over you.
