In The Event Of A Flood Damage Emergency
by Ramona Weisly, Ram
Well flood damage and hospitals do not apparently have much in common, but well they do too, some of the times. Here I am going to tell you about one of those times. It had been that kind of night in the Emergency Room; one patient after another, all in critical condition or in some kind of horrific pain and I flew from one side of the hospital to the next trying to help everyone as quickly as I could. It was one of the worst storms I had ever seen and it seemed the entire city was being affected by flood damage and they were all fighting for space in my ER. The power had gone out and the generators kicked in and I continued to work. I continued to work as I noticed my feet were damp but I was so engrossed in what I was doing I didn't really notice. When my shift ended I decided to head down stairs to finish some paperwork before going home.

In the hospital where I work, the basement is also the morgue and often succumbs to flood damage. My colleagues joke with me about it, but I am completely serious when I say it is the only place in the entire building I can get some peace and quiet, so I had an office made for me. Before I got to the bottom of the stairs I could see the flood damage water. It was about hip deep. I walked back up the stairs and called maintenance. I met them at the stairs and they kind of laughed, I think this was out of their league but agreed to help me remove as much of the flood damage patient files as I could get from my office.

We were able to get most of the flood damage files out and decided to leave the ones that were stored on ceiling shelves. If the flood damage water in the basement continued to rise tonight, it probably would not get that high up. If it did, well, I would deal with that when it happened. We slogged more wet boxes and papers in to my car than I realized I had and I drove them home. I strung fishing lines through my living room and started hanging flood damage files to dry them. My son came out of his room while I was banging around and asked what I was doing. When I told him, he said to stop, his friend's dad specialized in flood damage things like this. I looked at him a little strangely but he called his friend's dad who came over right away.

By the time I returned to work two days later, my flood damage files and documents had been freeze dried and restored almost back to their original state. For a small amount of money, I was able to save almost everything. Flood damage Document freeze drying is not new, but it wasn't something I had ever considered until I was in an emergency flood damage situation. So I decided to share my experience with you; maybe you too can make use of this technology to restore something from flood damage that is of immense value to you.
